Ha ha ha. I suppose Nadir Shah could have been such since he conquered the capital, but no he didn't conquer the entire area. The fact of the matter is India has a huge area and extreme differences in terms of climate and landscape. Not to mention a huge population. In order for an army to get there, it would have to have extensive and fast moving resources to properly conquer it and for it to stay conquered. Britain was the only empire in history to gain such a capability. Persians were good, but even Iran itself has certain disadvantages that doesn't allow for good supplies. Plus the army would need to go through extreme salt deserts and then go through thick jungles, the likes of which don't exist in Middle East nor Europe. Geography proved to be the biggest barrier in such a campaign.

Well, though I won't deny the awesomeness of Britain's army in the 1700s, I still hold firmly to the belief that the onquering of India was mostly Robert work, and if one placed him at the head of Alexanders army or andy army at all really, he would produced the same results in a heart beat that's why he gets to be called "the greatest of the great".

So um why do you have such a fascination with this guy? Only because he conquered India?

Personally, in order for me to call someone great, they would be great adminstrators and great conquerors. They should try to improve the lives of all people and do good. Cyrus was the first to do that, despite the first king to gain so much power. Power corrupts, but he didn't at all. As a result, he is my inspiration.

Oh no, I have a fascination with him because he is on my wall. But I do believe that we are digressing (or in netspeak "thread jacking"). Feel free to start up a new thread if you wish to discuss this further.

His sperm cures cancer too... too bad he's got aids
