The Height of Level 9 - Songhai, Asia map, mod Marathon, mod difficulty

Spoiler :
songhai_038.jpg

038. Took me a long time to wait for some AI to accumulate nearly the full 900 gold for my second Ivory. It seems that under the 65% discount, the AIs are very happy to spend their cash.
I would probably do the same if I find the entire store is 65% off!

Spoiler :
songhai_039.jpg

039. The final German warrior is dead and that fulfills Warsaw's mission!
That's the end of the Battle on the Tibatan Plateau (although it looked very sea-level here).
Bismark lost, 0 to 5. :D That will teach him something.

Spoiler :
songhai_040.jpg

040. The AIs keep fighting each other... and I noticed more Siam units east of the Himalayas opening. Perhaps Ramky is planning a serious assault? I better pull back my tiny Warrior army of 4 and rest up.

Spoiler :
songhai_041.jpg

041. Strangely Ramky asked for a ceasefire - not Bismark!

I would love to get some compensations for Askia's loss of apetite and sleep. But given that all level-9 AIs have armies twice as large as mine, I should be greateful that they even consider signing an unconditional peace treaty with Askia.

The changes you made to hitpoints are brilliant! It's always bothered me a little about civ 5 combat - you march in, and stuff just dies. Also, the 1 warrior vs 1 brute matchup was a bit awkward too. This fixes all that (and doesn't stretch things out too much on marathon speed).

This fixes all that (and doesn't stretch things out too much on marathon speed).

Glad to see someone likes it. :D
At the time I didn't know that there are other changes to be made at the same time:

(1) Barracks, Armory, Military Academy experience should be increased to 3X
(2) Janissary, Jaguar heal amount should be increased to 3X.
I haven't done these yet. But later on I will include them and release it as a MOD available for download. However, it will also change the game under other speeds, so it is for people who particularly want to play Marathon. (Or just don't load the mod in non-Marathon speed game).

Spoiler :
songhai_042.jpg

042. I was still thinking Meritocracy for some nice, expensive military tech - so here I go!

Spoiler :
songhai_043.jpg

043. The new policy gave me a free worker, but then my unit maintenance went over the limit and my production is hit by 10%. Since I really don't need more workers, I disbanded this new one.

Spoiler :
songhai_044.jpg

044. From InfoAddict's military chart, I can see that Bismark took a medium hit from his defeat, but is recovering very soon. At this time I have met all the AIs. While most of them field massive army, there is one deviant who has almost as few army as me - Wu Zetian of China. (Even Gandhi's military strength is way up there!)

Spoiler :
songhai_045.jpg

045. Ramky came to me with a proposal of friendship!
But he is the worst friend a human can ever have, even worse than Gandhi.
(At least Gandhi does not turn on his friend.) Go home, Ramky. Find some other friend and backstab.

p.s. Soon Ramky made a few friends in the world, such as Gandhi. We will see what happens.

Spoiler :
songhai_046.jpg

046. Five more turns to finish Writing and 5 more turns to finish Granary. So Askia's National College can start right on time.

The wounded soldiers returned home to be welcomed by Workers! Rest up and get ready for new challenges.

Wu Zetian has declared war on Darius I, but isn't her army very small? Is she going to sign a bad treaty right after 7 turns... :p

"You have been at war in the past, but they do not seem to hold a grudge"

Poor, poor AIs :D Gonna be good to see how this plays out, I like the thought of increasing the health etc. :D

Spoiler :
songhai_047.jpg

047. The demograph says that Askia's soldier count is about 40% of the AI average. And guess who has the largest army? The Iroquois! I hoped that Iroquois would have a ******** growth since I took all his 3 workers away... but it looks like someone is in deep trouble. And it is probably me!~

Spoiler :
songhai_048.jpg

048. As I was still at war with Iroquois and Warsaw joined my side, and Warsaw is very close to Iroquois, it is reasonable to guess who is going to take the heat of the biggest army in the ancient world. But I am also glad to see that Warsaw has 11 city defense. With 75 HP (3X from the regular), even 6 warriors + some archers can't take this city very easily. I doubt the Hiawatha AI is smart enough to start the siege anyway since he has virtually unlimited production at home.

Spoiler :
songhai_049.jpg

049. Sold 3rd Ivory to Darius. Now I have quite a lot of cash at hand.

Spoiler :
songhai_050.jpg

050. After buying the Library directly for 880 gold, I still have 2300 gold left. So I could buy 4 more warriors out and maybe kick some ass. However, I don't want to reduce my production for the National College, which is crucial for me to catch up (if I can ever). So instead I made an investment to buy the two tiles leading to the Gems for 570 gold. After selling it I am still running an immediate profit of 330 gold.

Spoiler :
songhai_051.jpg

051. InfoAddict's global relation. Pairs of enemies have emerged, and it is useful to guess who is where. At the time I haven't seen the territories of Persia, Mongolia, China, and Germany. But since Germany declared war on Iroquois, they should be close. Likewise China and Mongolia, which had both declared war on Persia, is close to Persia. They are probably all in the east somewhere.

Spoiler :
songhai_052.jpg

052. My warriors are almost healed up and here comes Iroquois Archers! I know the largest army in the ancient world is going to show up! But I want to get rid off that Bismark Scout first (or my Deer cannot be harvested and I want that very tile for defense.)

Also, in order to accelerate the National College, I am sending workers to chop down some forests.

Spoiler :
songhai_053.jpg

053. Found where Persia is. A Great General is leading units out to hunt barbarians. That's a very nice sight for an AI. I have always wondered why the AIs don't use their Great Generals in invasions... probably because the AI would lose them way too quickly since most of their invasions end in disaster. :D

Spoiler :
songhai_054.jpg

054. Things aren't looking good for Warsaw!
But then Darius has declared war on Hiawatha! Nobody likes the great army in the ancient world. :p

AIs in this game is going wild, all neighbors are declaring war on each other... I heard patch .275 makes AI this aggressive, and the 9th level mod makes that happen a lot sooner.
