The hills are alive - Austrian Civ

Es is ganz gut, alles klar Kamerad.

Any plans to update for warlords? Also, when it comes to an Austrian UU I was thinking something along the lines of Hussars or Grenzers. Something 1700-1800ad.

well i dont think that the austrian regular infantry was superior to other countries. therefore i suggest to make the kuk infantry just a flavor unit.

the problem is i cant really think of any unique unit .. maybe replace cavalry with something like husars or ulans

or make riflemen more adept in the mountains and rename them 'Kaiserjäger'

Jawoll, glei amio testen!

For UUs, i think the Kaisergrenadiere are a nice choice, but +25% while defending against cannons is a tad too restrictive.
maybe 20% gunpowder 25% cannons?

Contrary to common belief, Austria that do NOT exclusivly consist of mountains and hills, that some kind of hills movement/defense would imply.
I cant stand being thought of as some kind of mountain-dwelling hillsmen.

On the other hand, we HAVE a good deal of agriculture in the not-so-flat regions, so we could as well gain +1 food from animal husbandry ressources :D

ich spreche ein bischen deutsch, aber mit keinen Össtereichischen dialect.

csak hogy mondjam, magyarúl is beszélek.

if you cannot speak german or hungarian, disregard the previous two sentences :D.

For the Austrian UU my idea is...*looks at one of my family member, who is right now pwning the Very Hard AI in Cossacks: Back to War*...Pandurs! Replacing Riflemen, Pandurs are basically (I think) military used in highland warfare, so they would get the Guerilla II promotion to start, maybe even a first strike.

pandurs were borderguards in croatia .. also body guards for croatian noblemen.

in the silesian wars there was a pandur regiment. they looked and were equipped different due they were more used to the ottoman military lore.

the commanding colonel regarded their uncommon appearance as advantage in battle.

maybe in civ4 terms they get first strike cos the opponent is surprised by their strange looks.

just an idea

hehe it s somewhat difficult to find a unique unit for austria ;)

Servus aus Wien (Greatings from Vienna)!

I think, that the UU depends on the time - would be some Infantry ( Kaiserjäger o(de)r Grenadiere) or Cavalry Unit (Hussaren or Dragoner)...

Austrian Empire considers Hungaria, Bohemia, Croatia, Slovenia, Galicia (Part of Ukrain now) and Marovia together with Germanaustria. Therfore a lot more than mountains...

Would say some agriculturial. cultural (music - Mozart, Schubert, Bruckner, Haydn, Falco ;-)... and art ) bonus will be great.

regards
Gwydion
