I guess that this deserves a proper thread.

In the early twenty-first century, humanity was confronted with a shortage of mineral resources and the increase of terrorist actions. To reverse this chaos, the leaders of the most powerful countries in the world and representatives of big corporations had congregated and on April 17, 2035, created the World Council. In the same year the World Council started the space program Aurora. Its goal was to make a complete map of the solar system, aimed at exploitation of mineral resources beyond planet Earth...

This is my attempt to simulate, just as in NESFed, a nation. The possibility of failure is very high and this is not really a "serious" IOT. The game is Aurora 4X, a very difficult space game, both its interface and even to install itself. And, as quoted in the game wikia: Aurora is a 4X (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, and eXterminate) science fiction strategy game. Players develop their interstellar empire from the humble beginnings on their homeworld to conquer the universe, or be pummelled into the ashes of history by opposing races.

I don't want to exploit the game, even because I would not be capable of it, rather, the idea is a nation in which we, players, are the ones who make the decisions based on interests, like roleplay.

About the game, I'm still deciding what type of government for the purpose of roleplay. And if someone has a better story or even a better name for the "Empire". I would suggest something like Imperial Council, Feudal States... the list goes on.

As in NESFed I will open space for interested players to join the universes as main characters in the nation (military, scientists, administrators, etc).

And of course, everyone will be of the Governing Council.

I call Civilian Administrator (I remember when I was Governor of Earth  until I was replaced :( )

Also am total want us to be Imperials but am ok with anything.

Republic, anyone? Something like Terran Commonwealth.

This is all a matter of roleplay, I do not want to manage an nation called "IOT Federation".

The Gaian Commonwealth?

Imperial Federation of Earth?

The Empire of Terra as a constitutional monarchy?

The Inner Dominion?

The Peoples Democratic Republic of Free Terra?

Overall I might try the doge of a space Venice or I could have a go at leading a religious movement if need be.

Would like to join as a fleet admiral.

THE GAME SETUP
I feel morally obliged to explain everything.

I believe that the year does not affect anything so we're going with 2077. The name can be changed at any time, so if in the future someone suggest a better name, I will change. We will use the conventional start, meaning that we will not do much in the early years (perhaps century) at most, we are planning to colonize the solar system.

We will be a sort of feudal government [this implies that later I will edit the background in the thread to make sense], and if we survive until then, each planet will be managed by a house that you can create. The form of government influences quite a lot in the beginning and in the course of the game.

Government Type includes some modifiers for Empire characteristics, such as Xenophobia, Militancy, Determination, etc. and affects the amount of industry and how it is divided at game start.
Also I had to change the amount of Research Facilities we begin, the initial number in a feudal government is very low [approximately two per billion]. In addition I had to enable the "No Missile Base for Conventional Start" or apparently the game will not work correctly.

This is the complete map of the solar system. We are the pale blue dot somewhere in the map.

A summary of our planet:

Our workforce is concentrated in constructors. Something good? no idea.

These are the minerals we have available. Accessibility ranges from 0.1 to 1.0, this being the best.We Accessibility 1.0 in Sorium, is a good thing because, according to Wikia, is used for fuel. Duranium is also something that we are looking for.

Here's the Explanatory table:

Duranium: Most common ore and used to build factories, mines and ship structures.
Neutronium: Very dense material used for shipyards, advanced armors and kinetic weapons such as railguns or orbital bombardment systems.
Corbomite: Used for advanced shields, stealth systems and electronic warfare systems.
Tritanium: The primary material used in many missile technologies and in the construction of ordnance factories.
Boronide: The primary material used in the construction of power systems and capacitors and also for the creation of Terraforming facilities.
Sorium: Used for construction of jump drives and jump gates. Also refined by fuel refineries to produce fuel.
Uridium: Used in sensors and fire control systems.
Corundium: The primary material used in almost all energy weapons.
Mercassium: Used for Research Facilities, life support systems and tractor beams.
Vendarite: Used in the construction of fighters, fighter factories and fighter bases.
Gallicite: Used in the construction of engines, including missile and fighter engines.

Advancing to the research tab we have eight scientists available: 3 Power and Propulsion, 3 Logistic / Ground Combat, 1 Biology / Genetics and 1 Energy Weapons. And the first scientific research that will focus on is the trans-Newtonian that, unfortunately, we have no scientist on the subject.

For future plans we will use one RL (Research Lab) to design our first commercial engine on the premise that we need it as soon as possible; likewise increase the capacity of our shipyards to somewhere around 3500-4000 ton (it start in 1000).

We have no admiral of the fleet. I'll be naming you soon. I also like to know if you have any suggestions for class name of our first ship (which will be used to inspect planets, moons, etc).

This is our race panel. Humans are represented something similar to Jürgen Prochnow. No one knows whether we are submarine's captain or of House Atreides.

I propose to name our first class of ship the Enterprise Class.

Opportunity+Instinct=Profit

The burghers are going to look forward to the potential opportunities in space.

I would like to request a mining operation to gather minerals from the moons for Earth's space operations.

I request that the scientist in Energy Weapons is named after me.

I also agree with Aile, space is full of financial possibilities. We should send surveys ASAP to find out celestial bodies with materials in quantity and easy access that are of use to us.

Duàn Industries will look forward to conduct operates on behalf of the Imperium.

Our family corporation, currently headed by Duàn Guang, desires wealth generation from the new frontier.

Ailedhoo [Pessimistic], Calgori [Enterprising, Problem-solver, Resourceful, Risk-taker] and Everblack [Couragerous, Energetic, Modest] are Civilian Administrators, in the following order:

Polyblank is Enthusiastic, Good judge of character, Impoverished and Result-oriented.

I made Arya [Intolerant] captain.

That way he will have roles in the early stages of the game.

I'm giving the choice of those who felt uncomfortable with their traits to be able to change, or remove, or add at least two.

Since it was decided, we'll, as future plans, mine the moon. To do this we are also developing our first engine that will have limited power to keep it a Commercial Conventional Engine [I believe that there must be something to do with maintenance]. If my calculations are correct this engine is expected to reach 70 km/s. We going call it 5 EP CCE-1 [5 Engine Power Comercial Conventional Engine 1]

Engine Power: 5 Fuel Use Per Hour: 0.44 Litres
Fuel Consumption per Engine Power Hour: 0.088 Litres
Engine Size: 50 HS Engine HTK: 25
Thermal Signature: 5 Exp Chance: 5
Cost: 5 Crew: 25
Materials Required: 0x Duranium 5x Gallicite
Commercial Engine

Development Cost for Project: 50RP

In the next update we will probably have searched all our queue.

Now, for those who do not know, we have three [I believe, according to tutorials] ways to mine the moon. The first is to send miners to the colony; the second is mine with automatic modules; and the third would be a ship equipped to mine asteroids and comets. To the moon we would have two ways, what do you suggest? I vote in the colony.

I consider that our government should rely on his human workforce, providing employment to our unemployed citizens and making the colony grow.

As per the offer to add traits, change Intolerant to Insubordinate, and add Adventurous and Born Leader. At least, if I understood that section of the update correctly.

I vote that we send our ships equipped with mining equipment in order to gain valuable experience in regards to using ships on far off missions, as that will almost certainly be an essential part of future missions.

I consider that our government should rely on his human workforce, providing employment to our unemployed citizens and making the colony grow.

...but mechanical workers could increase productivity and ensure new focuses in our colonial management! Think also of how we can save long term in wages! It would also allow opportunity for the robotics and other mechanical sectors!

On behalf of business we request the government does not penalise any industrial entirety who uses robotic instruments as part of their work force.

Maybe in a planet harder to colonize, robots will be a better option, but the costs of colonising the moon are clearly affordable. Our empire is an empire of mankind, it wouldn't have sense to focus first in anything else.

Our empire is an empire of mankind, yes.

However, machines are clearly superior at everything. That's why I propose we become the Manchines, where man and machine will combine for a prosperous future.
