The Install Disc is actually the Play Disc...

This applies to the US regular version of CivIV. There are two discs, Disc 1/Install and Disc 2/Play. However, if you try to use Disc 2 to play, the game will prompt you to insert the correct disc which apparently is Disc 1. :crazyeye:

EDIT- Sorry, this should be in Civ4 - Technical Support.

Shyeah, I can confirm, they are incorrectly labeled... I've had this installed a short time and already have found numerous issues. Sigh.

Thank you for this valuable information!!

Will call Take 2 support and let them know!!

We tried using the Install CD (#1), as suggested.

Now the program displays a splash screen, shows "loading", then pops up the old "cannot locate the CD" screen???

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I put both CDs in and it ran... well up until my settler and the world was supposed to pop up.

You may have to click on the spash screen to keep it loading.

For those who have not yet installed, make sure you follow all the steps and install (or reinstall) directX9.0c prior to attempting to run the program.

This could be one of the worst game launches I have ever seen... hopefully the game makes up for it!

I think the PC version of Phantasy Star Online had this same lable problem.

 this has been incredibly rediculous. i did not expect these kind of problems from all of the hype about the game. I had been oggling my copy all day long during my classes and came home expecting to spend the whole day playing... god d*** ati graphics card.

My US Special Edition has the same problem. I don't know - it somehow feels ominous...

My roommate had the same problem. We removed the game from the system and re-installed and it worked perfectly. Try that.
