I can't quite remember the name of it. It was one of the scenarios included in the Gold version of Civ II. I remember it took place in the late 19th century where the works of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and many others were real occurrences.

Can anyone help me find some information about it?

I think it was simply called JulesVerne or Verne, and it was first included in the Fantastic Worlds expansion. It is excellent, if memory serves me right. It is recommended to play one of the larger European nations, since the exotic ones are quite unbalanced.

I recall some brotherhood of assassins with bases all over the world being a particularly nasty enemy....!

I just realized that i actually have Civ2 installed...

The scenario is called Verne/The World of Jules Verne
Factions:
Anglo-Alliance
Continental-Alliance
Muslims
Asians
Secret Evil Society
Aborigines
Exotics

Now I know that I need to load Civ2 on my computer, since I have been a Jules Verne fan since first reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea about 50 or so years ago.

Wow, this thread brings back memories! Amazing music with this scenario; I remember it being one of the most inventive and playable ones out there - definitely worth a shot if you haven't already. Pity I've lost my Civ II disk

If you get the Civilization Chronicles, you get Civ2 as part of it. The Verne scenario is on there.

@timerover51: Thanks for the tip. Just found an mp3 of the 'World of Jules Verne' music and now it's stuck in my head. I might just have to invest in Chronicles you know.

@cfkane: Sounds interesting; definitely a feel worth capturing in a newer Civ.
