The Loom of the Land

Yes I think so. It would be nice to get a 18th century win. hopefully I didnt take up too much time getting the stack ready. Xyqtt should be able to attack on turn 0 of his set. 2 pronged attack and steamroll towards London.

You were probably right about going for Kublai. It would have been quicker. Nevermind.

Well, as mice's set was a preparing one, I have not so much to comment!

Fro got my idea of trying conquest. Avoiding domination is easy: raze everything in sight! But if domination is the key, I think Fro will see the victory screen.
Just don't forget that Churchill has one city North, in Kublai's area, and that island city near us. Our brave warriors will have a hard time defending Boston and Washington!

I left the main stack at Kublai's borders because he didn't have rifles. And as we didn't have rails (do we now?), Cavs would be quicker to get to the front. That's why I build some stables too during my set.
Man, it took me almost 2 hours yesterday to play this 10-turn set. I'll need to get home earlier again for even trying the trash game. My wife is kinda civ-sick now...

Already played, will tell the report when imageshack works

Are you learning from aelf and Sisiutil too????

 Summary! Summary! Summary! Summary!

summary for fb

conquerd 4 english cities

Used an great artist in one of those cities

domination victory

I still want the full report, but I have to agree with Fro. I think this was the fastest SG that I ever read. And even more impressive because of the short roster we made.
Great work guys. The flow was amazing. The variant was good. Even if we broke it by accident (like capturing some specialists wonders), they weren't enough to consider a game breaker.
Congratulations to you all.

Xyqtt, if you can post, along with the report, the save from 1 turn before the end, I'd like to include this on my personal HoF!

One.. more.. point... Mice, I told you that domination would be easy! ;)

I woke up to good news. We won ! I think thats the earliest victory I have been part of. Congrats Xyqtt. Great warring again.

What a team , what a game. Fb , in the variant rules it says we can capture Temple of Artemis and Great library. That's no problem. We did it with no specialist and no cottage, but I still cant work out how.

Fb ,you were right that domination was too easy from that point, but , we know now for sure that the variant is winnable. Also you were right that Kublai would have been faster. bloodier a bit , but I'm sure we would have done it. It seemed like a waste to lose the perfect stacks we had for Churchill.

I still don't understand how we tech'd so fast, was it purely due to trade routes + colossus?

I still don't understand how we tech'd so fast, was it purely due to trade routes + colossus?

Yea possibly. I think we made efficient use of all gold coming in from conquests, even without pillaging cottages. I mean good trading and good tech path. The sea tiles are a good fast boost as opposed to the cottage that takes a while.

Oracle to MC was a good boost too. MC and alphabet for trades put us ahead and we didn't look back because after that our conquest gold paid the tech largely.

The trade routes didn't hit really high levels because the AIs were on the same continent, but I guess it was that the trade routes were early.

It seems that we leveraged what we had early, and this made the difference.

Combined it with good war and we suddenly had two times the cities of anyone else.

Augustus could have run away with it but his war with Ragnar was just in time.

Churchill was boxed in by Augustus' culture. Kublai had crappy land. Keeping Ragnar pleased was crucial because if he'd attacked us while we were beating up Saladin it would have slowed us down.

Isabella had no chance when we grabbed her copper.

Saladin fell hard because we got those elephants and iron. That was a good tactic. It gave us Mecca soon which was game breaking for the production as well as the trade routes.

Then there was good management of the GPP. Two merchants feuled that domination. So Collosus and G-lighthouse were key. Then we got lucky getting another merchant out of Mecca .

The shrine almost didn't figure. It was a waste to spend hammers on missionaries.

Production was better than drafting in the end. It really showed how powerful it is to emphasize production.

Yeah I was surprised. I'm certainly going to place more emphasis on production in the future. Just looking back over the game we had oracle->MC-> colossus before we were even out of the BC years which must have been what boosted us, along with our 3 or 4 GMs. Nice to have a game like that.

So Mice, what's your next great idea for a SG? :)

___________________ :)

I agree with this.

Fro, hmmm. ideas ... I would like to pick up the 1210AD save and play it out to a space race victory. Maybe just offline for fun. My heads still spinning from that victory.

Mice, you said everything I was thinking about tonight...
The War economy we made here was fueled by a really good start. And when we thought we'd go bankrupt, a GM magically appeared and did his great work for more cash. Barcelona was also a good acquirement. It had few production, compared to the others, but it made a good role on our civ. With all that coastal tiles, 3 commerce per tile was major.

So, Xyqtt, will you post the report or we'll have to :bump: you and hand the laurels of finishing to Fro? :mischief:

Sorrguys. Some problems with my pc. Hope to fix it tommorow. So no save and exended reoprt till then

Finally here it is

So my turns started with some lucky great person birth. A great artist. During wartimes these can instantly add a pile of land to your control. And that is what happend to Nothingham if I remeber correctly. The warring was quit easy. Just reduce def to 0 % suicide some cannons and kill everything afterwards. WE sufferd a few losses but it went quit good. Then when we captured london and nothingham I used the artist in Nothingham to claim all the land which fell away form the englsih diue to the cpaturing of Londan nothign hastings and anoter one which name I forgot. And we won.

Only builded units. Not that we needed it. And that's it

The save is attached just push the button and you'll win

Very nice. Good luck to get an artist and finish it quickly. The artist must have come from Madrid right, from the Globe?

I see Washington is making about 200 hammers/turn. A good capital IMO. And we have about 2000 gold surplus with not one cottage.

It's good that we were on a pangea because we didn't tech astronomy, so Collosus didn't obsolete. With continents and Astronomy we would have lost the commerce from Collosus but gained better trade routes. With some much war we would be better off in this case. That's just one more thing that worked in our favour.
