The Medieval Weapons Mod - adding history and logic to the civ4 middle ages.

This was made quite a while ago, there have been quite a few updates to civ since then, so there may have been some changes in the unit file format since then.

I might do an update, but I have a few projects I'm working on first, and if I do it'll be for beyond the sword. I haven't played BTS enough yet to really get a hold on the balance changes in it yet.

If you let me know what exact errors you're getting though I could probably whip up a quick fix if it's just a file format error.

The swordsman is the way it is just because there's not much point in giving it a melee bonus. It already clearly beats the spearman and loses to the axeman, which is as it should be in both cases. Giving it a melee bonus would just make it weaker vs axemen which is undesirable.

Well, the first error message I get is this:

XML Error
(X)Tag: TECH_COMMUNISM in Info class was incorrect
Current XML file is: Units/CIV4UnitInfos.xml

I get three more: One about Mao, one about the Forbidden Palace and one about the Three Gorges Dam. All are similar in format.

That problem is because some XML tags were changed to pass Chinese censorship.

This sounds like an interesting mod. I'd like to see it updated for BtS as well. Another thing I've always thought was weird was horse archers being lumped in with melee mounted units instead of being an archery unit. They should be an archery unit with something like a 90% chance to withdraw except against melee mounted units and other archery units.

I'm glad to see a mod like this, but I was also hoping to find a mod that might add a few units to the middle ages (0AD - 1500 AD, broadly speaking). Good attempt at realism and balance though.
