Seems a bit strange that such a large game franchise has no thread dedicated to it here. Hopefully this can be the one.
The other day I went and bought the HD collection of Metal Gear Solid. It's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I've not only had the chance to replay through some of my old favourite games, (MGS2 and 3) but also get to play the original Metal Gear games for MSX2 and Peace Walker. Currently I'm playing through the entire series in chronological order, starting with Snake Eater and going all the way through to Guns of the Patriots. The story doesn't 100% match up through all the games, but it will be a good experience none-the-less.
So, my question to you is what are your favourite Metal Gear games in terms of story, gameplay or in general? Snake Eater wins the best award for story from me, while Guns of the Patriots just pips it for gameplay (even though 4's story is a bit convoluted.) When I get around to playing Peace Walker however, this may change.
Also, thoughts on the new game, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance? I thought they had a good concept and good angle with the interquel approach; MGS4 could certainly have done with some extra explanation. But now it seems they've gone and completely... ruined it. Not to say it will be a bad game, but I don't think it should carry the Metal Gear title any more.
