Not only is this a choke point for the entire continent, the angle of attack is covered by a mountain and two hills. You'll also note Austria's Great Wall in the image. Even my 5-movement Keshiks won't be able to fire and get out of range in this terrain, not even the ones with 3 range.
I believe the forested hill towards Belgrade overs a vantage from which I can hit the city (without entering the penalty area of the Great Wall), not sure about the desert hill southeast of the mountain.
I might try to pull some classic Mongol shenanigans and go for a swim to attack from the more open other side, but the Great Wall is still powerful and given that I'm at war with the entire world and have no navy, this might be a poor idea.
As a side-note, apparently the steam hotkey F12 to take a screenshot is also used by Civ5 to quickload a save (nice one QA... given that Steam is mandatory this should have been caught), so I'll actually have to replay from turn 170. Is there any way to change Civ5's hotkeys?
