The most fun unit?

remorseless, quoting the kahn?

But of course. And, from one writer to another, it's Khan

Welcome to CFC, by the bye. Fun, sharp group here.

I personally liked Khan's speech about him being the Scourge of God better, Bokhara and Samarkand and the Muslim people living there sure didn't forget that.

Lately I have been having fun with new units I haven't been using so much before.
The old and faithful Spy is the flavor of the month.
Find the spots where the Barbs swarm, spy sits and waits;and voila......all these beutiful NON units.
 [dance]

Although not exactly fitting into you catagories:

Armour (Hooya Cav)
Airborne
Ironclads (ever establish a coke piont on an isthmus latter BB's do this even better)
Dragoons (Hooya Cav)
Stealth fighter

Fix, Locate, and Destroy

How can you forget the AEGIS Cruiser? After Rocketry, it is probably the only sea unit worth building, except subs of course (who are also fun =) Battleships ans Carriers are always wiped out by AI missiles really quick...I hate it...by the way, have any of you guys noticed how the AI NEVER builds Carriers? It`s annoying...

I think someone has found that any unit in that slot (i.e. the line where it says "carrier" in the rules.txt) will never be built by the AI. If you change it to another line, I think they will build it, but can't use it properly:(

D. Ascendant: are you sure that Genghiz gave the speech? If I remember my history, Tamerlane, or Timur the Lame, a Tartar who lived from 1336 to 1405, was the khan of the Jagatai Mongols, and carried out campaigns against Persia, Russia and northern India that were so brutal, he was known as the "Lash of Allah" by the Moslems in that part of the world. He also destroyed the Golden Khanate...and probably invented the Internet (no, wait, that's Gore the Lame).

The paratrooper is TOO fun. Fighters can't intercept him; he moves like cheat mode; then does nothing after all.

:goodjob: Go paratrooper! I also like legions and dragoons and armor. Legions have a huge chance of destroying other ancient units. Dragoons because they move two and destroy anything in sight. And Armor because they move THREE and leave a trail of destrution wherever they go.

Yeah, Genghis was the first to make himself The Scourge of God, he wanted the Moslems too afraid to think of armed resistance. Timur Khan was the Genghis wannabe. Didn't copy the words, but copied the intent.

i can't believe noone has aid the nuclear missile!

i know it causes more problems than it solves (in the game, as well as reality) but isn't it just so much fun seeing the explosion and hearing that air raid siren, and knowing you can just now wander in with a pikeman and take an entire city?

I should point out i'm still only talking about the game...

though i would wonder what one was doing with a pikeman in the era of nuclear weapons...

Air raid siren and cloud are cool, only in the game!!!!!!!
Skulls nice touch too!
Pikeman in the nuclear age – Ceremonial Guard!

Ancient, Warrior… What am I thinking????, Three to a city, Leo them to riflemen, Build Alpine troops to replace them. Disband in cities in need, leave the cash base alone for other needs Well maybe not fun but useful.

Ok Fun its a unit pairing. Infantry on that special strong point along with a some arty or good cav. Let the AI dash it’s self against the rocks while you get ready to go to war.

I know! They start attacking cities with fully loaded Carriers! But the problem should be solved by giving the Carriers a "0" attack strength, right? Now, we only have the problem of the AI flying their aircraft all over the sea, crashing them...

I think the caravan is the most fun unit. You get money AND science. So with caravans, money can be better than good production.

My favorites from the Civ2 days would be:

Legions, Elephants, cannons, and Dragoons.

The Nuke...why?

The AI won't pick on you and will act friendlier in negotiations.

Clear out navies without causing pollution.

Clears out a city in more ways than one.

Since the AI actually cleans it up, it leaves nasty pollution in their continent.

The only counter to it's power is an expensive city improvement.

In early parts of the game crusaders by the dozens (supported by diplomats) - they are the most powerful unit for a ong time.

In the modern age: Howitzers to kill everything inside enemy cities, a battleship/AEGIS cruiser/transport combo to invade foreign lands, lots of engineers to build RR for the howitzers, spies to bribe, spy, subvert and sabotage and stealth fighters to use as 'vacuum cleaners' to clean up the mess (partisans etc.) after the other units (esp. howitzers) have finished their job.

If I had to name just one unit that is fun to use it would probably be the stealth fighter because I rarely get to use (of the units I commonly use it's probably the spy).

Fun? I don't have Fun when I Play MP.;)

None-Settlers (nice to have) / Crusaders (essential in mp game)
Vet-Ironclads(Too funny to see these masses of little pikes, being destroyed by one ship):goodjob:
Partisans(although i rarely come to this tech in a mp game, in singleplayer i mostly go on AC)
