The Multipolar World (MP)

OOC: I'm gonna write an RP before actually declaring, but technically PUB is still bound by this DP as well, and we honour our commitments... :undecide:

One of the cardinal rules of political games I find is that you should never be a fairweather ally. If I sign on to something I will uphold that agreement.

As I said though I find this conflict unfortunate considering that I would of been outside of the pact on the next turn thanks to the activation of certain clauses I requested in return for joining the pact, as such this entire episode was entirely preventable. Siberia needed only to wait till next turn to declare war and we would of been perfectly fine to watch on the sidelines.

With missiles flying from Partitionania heading directly to the Republic. Military personnel in the Republic Citadel worked frantically to get the SDI operational. A few drops of sweet, blood, and a pinch of luck, managed to shoot down all incoming missiles. The colonel in charge of the SDI network was immediately dispatched to report to the Chancellor about the situation.

The colonel arrived in the Chancellor's office with Hanna assembling an emergency cabinate meeting to discuss the new world situation. Hanna already knows about Partitionania missiles striking the majority of the Comitern, but was unaware of missiles that were heading to her direction.

"Chancellor Hanna" the colonel stopped to take his breath "Partitionania... ....has.... ....launched a.... ....barrage of PB warheads at our direction!". The colonel then took his breath again "Luckly we shot down all of their missiles."

Hanna, taking of her reading glasses and gently placing it on her table. Many of her staff were bracing themselves for a Downfall Parody rant, but come to their surprise, would be nothing of the sort. "Why on Earth did the Partitionanias launched their nukes at us!"

Her Secretary of State answered "It's based on the assumption that we were part of some... ...silly ploy the Comitern cooked up. But shot down."

"Preposterous! Insanely preposterous!!" Hanna said as she stands up "The rationality on their 'Operation First Strike' has no ground! It's nothing more than a big global drive by shooting that leaves innocent bystanders dead!." Hanna walks behind the couches in the middle of her office, then turns to the colonel from the SDI station "What about the 501st?"

"They weren't even targeted, despite being a Comitern member"

Hanna glares her eyes "Treachery, utter treachery. These political power plays has done nothing but place a scar on our society to make them uneasy with the outside world." Hanna walks in the center aisle between the couch and the coffee table "I'm even questioning myself on who to trust with foreign leaders who are drunk with power."

"I'm sure there are some good eggs still in this world" Tifa said

Hanna turns to Tifa, sitting in a couch across from the table "Prudencey is the key here. We've already been burned in the past. In this world we have to still contact with the outside world, we can't go into isolationism. Especially in this age." She then turns to her Secretary of State "What other powers are still gems in the rough?"

Hanna's Secretary of State adjusted his glasses as he reads off the list "The PUB, Xinjiang, and Italy. Ma'am"

Hanna turns to Tifa "Tifa, It's up to you to get into contact with these nations to foster friendly relationships with."

"Of course, Chancellor"

"I would have done this myself, but with a scared society, I feel that it's up to me to heal the wounds and scars that were left by this political power play we have seen in recent months."

Ok, it's now officially Tuesday, so I can think straight. Going into serious mode for a minute..

If you have already made up your mind to ditch an ally because you don't like him, then why the hell would you defend them and their actions? And Siberia is DoWing BECAUSE of Poland's actions. Are you guys Macs? Because your logic boards seem to be malfunctioning.

NOTIFICATION:

just so people don't go doing things immensely stupid. The papal states has no commitment to helping Partitionia against states it aggressively attacked. We honour our commitments to a defensive pact, we do not support or condone wars of aggression. As such our state of relations with the nations Partitionia attacked remains unchanged, and we are at war solely with Siberia.

See, this is the problem I've found with order locks: we end up playing the game back to front. All the diplomacy that should be the focus of the update takes place in the stasis between closing the post office and revising the stats, when all the old treaties are still in effect. As a result the object of the game seems to be trying to out-predict everyone else's moves.

I humbly request that everyone reach in their pants and remove any sticks lurking thereabouts.

I also request that no one turn this into a cock joke.

We are bound by our agreement until we declare it null and void. Its an outdated from of honour perhaps, but it is the code by which we act.

OOC: It's 5:30 in the morning and I'm having a stay-awake contest, you can't expect me to be rational right now. :p

The "lol I know it's weird but whatever" excuse only works on a Monday. You have missed your window of opportunity. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Said the pot to the kettle.

Not so much although I concede that there can be some negative consequences for upholding honour. L

ast I checked though the situation is rather in Red_Spy's favour considering those nations he targetted are effectively dead. Indeed at last check Korea is left with a measly two provinces. Incidentally both are small islands.

"You can't be serious!"
"Irish, we signed an agreement. We can't just back down on it because we were going to cancel it soon. We have to do this."
"The people won't back this! You're dooming our rule just to uphold your foolish honour!"
"Our people have to stand above the petty treachery of the world Irish, we have no choice!"
"We aren't the Papacy, we can make the right decision without people sayign we've compromised our integrity."
"We can't do it without compromising our integrity Irish, even if people wouldn't fault us for doing it. There is only one thing we can do, honour our obligations."
"Even if yo."
"Irish! We negotiate peace as soon as we leave the pact, but until then we have to make do. If you think this is the wrong decision, remember that you resigned because you didn't feel you could make them any more. If you didn't have confidence you could make these decisions, perhaps you should consider the possibility this is one of the mistakes you were worried about."

-----

"In honour of our obligations as a member of the Warsaw Pact of Neutral Nations, the Parlimentary Union of Britain hereby declares war on Siberia. We pray that this conflict will end when we renounce our membership of the pact, but until then; we have no choice but to engage in this conflict. I am sure God will have mercy on our souls, seeing as his instrument on Earth has made the same decision."

-----

The nation was suddenly plunged into political turmoil. Whilst many understood the government's need to remain true to it's agreements, many more decried it as unthinkable, unbeleiveable, unacceptable conduct. Within days it was declared that, as soon as possible, a provisional election would be held, as the PUB government began to come apart under the strain.

-----

OOC: Sorry Best, but we're still holding to the pact agreement until we leave it.

thats a very nice red cross you have there AA, shame if something were to happen to it.

Since when was I an international humanitarian aid organization?

Since I said so.

Why are people declaring war before the turn even starts? Jesus.
