The Mumbles is part of Swansea City. Just across the bay from me. I go to Swansea University at the edge of it most days.

EDIT Swansea City, and therefore Mumbles, is actually in Wales, not England. Read my message below.

It's a very nice middle class area on the edge of the Gower, the UK' first national park.

It is well known for the Mumbles Mile; a mile of pubs and restaurants. the aim is to drink in every one without losing consciousness.

Also, my girlfriend's parents owns a Chinese takeaway there; it's called Mumbles Packed Meals, I think. Go buy food there if you visit.

shrsdfsfwsdfgsdgs, oh sorry I was mumbling.
New York, What kind of weird name is that for a place? And what about Peking? Is it named after ducks. :D It is odd but maybe the founder couldn't speak well. Ack no shrug smiley.

 How odd. The Mumbles. I wonder why they put that in

Well, despite Mumbles being in Wales, I think it has a long history as an English colony. This is because it is on the edge of the Gower, a place of outstanding natural beauty which is very different from the rest of Wales. The Gower has been colonised by different cultures since the Romans, who were the first non-indigenous people to colonise it. Later the English colonised it. Now they do the same, buying holiday homes in the villages and raising prices above what local people can afford. This is part of a wider process that has led to Welsh nationalist extremists attacking and destroying the holiday homes of English people.

 really? never heard about it

I lived in a New Jersey town called Pennypot.

I can hear the wisecracks already! :)

It's the last city in England's list. It's just American developers whining when the English win the game :p

I get the distinct impression that P. Lincoln hates me more when I play as England - he's always invading and declaring war without provocation. He's so biased I struck him from the list of oponents :p

Dunno if I was just unlucky or what :D

@ SamPellegrino

hard to believe!

well, check out this website for more information on the organization behind the burning of English persons holiday homes.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3544851.stm

It talks about a campaign lasting from the 70s to the 90s but I believe there may also have been attacks in the last couple of years as well.

I always thought The Mumbles was a strange choice as it's such a small place. Quaint though!

Does anybody know why the list of cities for each civ in the game is so short? There are thousands of places in England that could be used but we soon seem to get on to the New London and New London 1 scenario! If I play as England, I name my own cities using the names of towns and villages near me.

I've never heard of it.

Anyway, I changed the English to the British and added lots of Scottish and Welsh city names with the editor. I changed Liz to Churchill too. I never liked it how it was just the English in the game.

Oh yeah, I'm Scottish BTW.

hey thanks for clarifying that el mumbito is a real place. i thought it was an easter egg town because i was playing on march 15th. i have played civ 3 about 5000 hours and i have never seen that town before, and i know that i have played with england making new london before at least once. mumbles just must have been destroyed in those games :(

poor mumbles
