The new patch seems to have arrived

After patching, I was able to load my saved game that I started yesterday. I have the standard version if it matters.

*edit* I crashed while gifting a unit on dx10/11 mode, but was able to gift just fine on dx9.

Sorry cm, that's just the way these things go. Happened with quite a few of Civ 4's patches as well. Look at it this way: now you probably won't have to deal with the same crash bugs when you get a new game rolling. :P

(although I never had to deal with them to begin with *gloat*)

Do you know how many patches Super Mario Galaxy got, ZERO, because it was perfect on launch date.

Broken saves :(

Oh well, was losing my attempt at cultural victory anyway but I'd like to have seen it through.

Are you seriously trying to compare the complexity of Civilization to a platform game like Super Mario Galaxy? That is just wrong on so many levels. Even most of the counsel games receive post release patches these days because of how sophisticated they have become.

JUst finished..Heres hoping my saves work!!

Wrong why?
If we keep accepting unfinished games, the devs will never learn.
If noone complains no more effort in releasing finished games will be made.

My point is, to defend it is counter-productive, you're making excuses for something that will ultimately just result in even more unfinished desperate-need-for-patches products to be released in the future. :goodjob:
If we EXPECT games to be unfinished, and in need of 2-3 patches 5 months after release to be feature / balance finished, the developers will ALSO expect that, and take it for granted, even include it in their development and release schedule. If we however stop making excuses for something we pay for (our money should be enough support, they dont need our emotional support too), then the devs will also see the error in releasing stuff that NEEDS patches to be finished.

Actually, I don't think it's going to be an issue for me after reading more replies to this thread since I don't have deluxe. I'm actually hopeful that some of the fixes will make it run smoother.

However, I still expect another patch coming for deluxe edition users. Invalidating prior save files is akin to data loss (hopefully only temporary if it gets fixed). The number one thing as a software developer that you don't want to do is...lose a customer's data.

I just patched and noticed one thing not in the patch notes (I think). You can actually view a conquered city before choosing whether to annex or puppet it. A definitely welcome feature.

Or he just understands the complexities involved and displays patience. Throwing tomatoes and egging Firaxis's house is just as counter-productive. Maybe even moreso, since they have to take the time to "clean up" the mess.

Can we just keep this thread on topic about the patch being released and stuff related to it? Don't we have enough threads to complain about the game already? *Sigh*...

Updated, and my save from yesterday doesn't work anymore (deluxe version with Babylon if thats really the reason). Too bad, was a nice game.

Anyway, nice to see the updates! :goodjob:
