The Official Wii thread

shudder horror, there's no Wii thread and my family just got one, so I'll start one.


I got a couple of questions:

Anyone else got the balance board with their Wii? Are there any great balance board games---eg. good balance of control and exercise and fun, but not necessarily programmed exerciese (e.g. no Wii Fit-type software)?

I'm hot to find a FPS that makes one sweat literally, using the balance board and a gun controller.

Also, anyone have the new FPS, Conduit?

I have one game that uses the balance board, Punch Out. Another game I know of that uses it is Shawn White's Snowboarding. There is also Rayman Raving Rabbids TV if you want a mini game collection that uses it.

The Wii has an almost complete lack of first person shooters, even though the controls would work well for them, probably because most first person shooters are too graphically demanding. There are many light gun games you can get, like the House of the Dead games and Ghost Squad.

I don't have The Conduit, but I hear it's not that good.

Well you can use the gun for Medal of Honour: Heroes 2. I don't know if you can use the board for it.

I never heard of The Conduit sorry.

Oddly, I randomally found a used version of Conduit for 50% off, today. I think it's a kind of new game, so that was a surprising find. Opportunist that I am, I bought it. Basically its a kind of Resistance: Fall of Man, men beat up space aliens during an invasion of Earth. Just started it. Pretty typical if you've played Gears of War / Resistance, but interesting as my first time playing a FPS on the Wii.

I won't say its not good, but I have to agree that the Wii doesn't seem optimized for FPS, nor tons of 3D action on the screen at once.

I got a Paintball FPS for the Wii and let me tell you, without the Wii Zapper it is impossible to play with the slightest competence.

At all.

I actually found it easier to play Umbrella Chronicles without the Zapper.

I've been playing Conduit a little, another numbchuck FPS, and it is a fairly playable without the zapper.
