The Paladins

Since we can't lay down a single cottage, can we afford the maintenance of two more cities? Or is the plan to whip libraries and run two scientists in every city to get pottery?

As we won't build any lib right away I'd switch to pottery immediately. Even though it may take some time.. Take a look how close the other AIs are.. In case we're going to wait any longer I'm pretty sure there won't be any land left to grab.
BTW: Please change the EPs assignment the way that we're spending at least one point per neighbor..

stop here.

Pottery is 2t from being done. Settler is ready to go, think getting the white spot for a blocker.

Giid turns so far.. Mounty is already in WHEOOH mode, so not converting was quite a good idea!! :goodjob:

But I'm not sure which spot you mean with the white one, but I'd purpose to settle our next city on the eastern spices west of Aachen or 1S of them to block Alex off.

Techwise I'd purpose to head towards writing and afterwards we may wanna go for meditation as it seems to have quite some trade value..

What's the white spot? Is it in the BUG Mod dotmap? Or is there an image I'm missing?

EDIT: This is the dotmap from 2 pages ago... I assume the red spot in this one?

White spot to the West for sheep/2xSpice. Alex settled 1W of the sheep. Our original spot was 1N of spice which would still block him because of the mountain.

I still would rather settle on the spice or between the spices and the peak.. This site simply we could reinforce it a bit easier than the one you suggested.

i'm off on holiday until Monday 21st so just skip me until then guys :)

Actually White Dragon signed up for this, so it's:

Current roster
Meatbuster -->
Ad Hoc --> Gone until the 21st
cripp7 --> Just played
Thy Spellcraft --> Up Now
White Dragon --> On deck

Ok, seems as we've got some points to discuss about..

The next city seems obvious... Any other ideas than settling on the eastern spices??

About tech there are a few options:
  1. We're about to generate a GSpy so writing Alpha for spys to make a use o the additional EPs
  2. We could head for sailing to settle the fish-spot sout west of Aachen
  3. We could go for meditation for some trade value and monachies to spread the religion for the happy faces

And meanwhile getting some miliary out wil be important as well!

So team which way to go?

I guess Alpha sounds good. We can steal stuff outlined in #2 and #3 with that, though spies can distract from military.

OK played my set so far. There's not much to tell you about it so please don't blame me or this kind of crappy report:

We finished pottery in 650 and I went on with writig for the libs and to open the way to alpha.
A turn later I realized that we're still missing slavery, so I changed. In the same turn I founded Augsburg as another blocker. (Sorry the screeny got lost somehow.. :()
Another time hitting enter showed how broken we're truly are: I needed to starv Prague to get enough :commerce: to keep break even.
In 550 Khan came asking or OB and as I don't see any reason not to sign I simply did. And we born a GSpy who got settled in Aachen. The team may decide whether we want to try on espionage-econ or not (for the first attempt we declined it as it would not fit into the spirit of this game..), but settling seemed obvious 'cause he provides us additional 3:science:.
In 525 I signed OB with Mounty and Nappi as well.
And finally in 375 I finished writing and stoped here.

So for the next turnset recovering our econ seem to be a no brainer.. But Prague should keep spamming units as Mounty is already in WHEOOH mode and taking a look onto Khan's power shows it won't take too long for him to go this way too. But we should discuss about whether to convert or not. Even though it might get some minus to Mounty it would raise relations to Khan and as Alex settled inbetween mounty and us Khan seems to be the more scaring guy..

And to finish up at least one picture that clearly points out HOW ar we're already behind:

Per Meat's earlier roster, looks like I am up.

Here are my thoughts. I am by no means even close to an emperor player but I don't think I could pull this off in prince. Our land is just really crappy and we are at least one millennium away from partial recovery.

Since we are so far behind, wouldn't it do us better to build/whip libraries and run scientists while developing cottages and researching Aesthetics? Almost everybody knows Alpha so I think trade Aes for Alpha/Math/IW/Poly/Archery/Fishing/etc. would do us much better.

Additionally, we can build troops faster than our 4 cottages are developing so if we keep building troops won't that just put us farther in the hole?

Also, we eventually need more workers but not until we have IW for chopping all that jungle, correct?

At least in Aachen this seems to be the best idea. But it's the only city having enough food to run scientists for now..

:goodjob: Good point. I'd suggest going that way!!

You're right somehow.. But we're fighting the worst wormongar to out east with a power rating of 0.4. Guess who he'll head for in case he's going WHEOOHRN? So we definitely need to raise this rating even though it may cost some :gold:!
And about the worker idea: I'd purpose to build anotherone in Aachen after finishing the lib.
And to raise the happy cap in Aachen I'd still vote for converting!!

I played 15 turns of Civ and all I got was this crappy report!

Turn 100
Swap research to Aesthetics and perform a little MMing.

Turn 101
7th on the most wealthiest list. No surprise there. Whip Library in Aachen.

Turn 102
Set Worker in Aachen.

Turn 103
Alex converts to a religion so we join the ranks. Alex, GK, Rags, Nappy & us are now Jewish.

Turn 104-105 Boring

Turn 106
Whip granary in Nuremberg

Turn 107
Turn on growth and commerce governors in Aachen.

Turn 108-110 Worker builds.

Turn 111
Trade our wheat to GK for his piggies for diplo purposes.

Turn 112-113 More worker builds.

Turn 114
Queued a library in Prague. Once it is completed there should be enough commerce in the empire to support another troop or two. Aachen grows to size 7 so I hire two scientists.

Turn 115
Slider at 20% and Aesthetics is in 14 turns.

It's AD1 and Aesthetics in 14 turns? Oh god.
This isn't epic speed here. :(
