"The Patch Failed to install! Aborting Installation."

Hello

I have installed Civ 4.... version 1.09 patch. I am trying to install BTS and its giving me an error msg;

"The Patch Failed to install! Aborting Installation."

I have downloaded Patch Civ4Patch1.74_Final and try installing but it doesnt work...it says "The setup has detected....
The setup is not compatiable....
You will have to uninstall pervious version...."

PLEASE HELP.....

I have the exact same issue anyone who can help bring some resolution to this it would be much appreciated. I have Civ 4 1.6.1 (CD installation) as well as Warlords 2.0 (D2D) and the issue is with the CD version of BTS.

Try installing v1.61 then intall BTS:

After that, you could patch Civ4 to v1.74.

Hello!

I have CIV IV, never patched. I don't have the CD, since I downloaded the official version (that is, it's not an illegal/cracked version) from the web. I now bought the BTS *CD* and when trying to install it I have exactly the same error as c_ool.

So I went on the forums and found out that the good slution was patching my CIV version from the "advanced settings" menu in the game. I tried to do that, it succesfully downloaded the whole patch (1.7) but was not able to install it because it could not find any previous version of CIV IV in my pc (!).

Ok, so I tried to install it manually, downloading the patch from the official website. Failed! Well, I than decided to go for the 1.6, and eventually patch it to the 1.7 succesfully. Failed! For the same reson as always (it does not find any previous version of the software).

I actually do not know what to do: I cannot even uninstall and re-install the game since I don't have the first CIV IV executable (after the download 1 year ago, I think I deleted it - how dumb!).

Can anyone help out?

I have this exact same problem. It says it can not find any previous version. Is this because I purchased the game online and downloaded it? Any suggestions?

the digital versions cannot be patched using the ingame updater - you need to get the patch from the vendor you bought the game from. most digital versions will only allow you to install bts after you patched them to 1.74...
