I recently executed the perfect war in an early era. I played with small land mass and archiplegago(sorry for spelling) and i was carthage. I had expanded quickly, taking over a dozen or so islands, when i found the zulu. They, of course, had covered their itty-bitty island with cities and terrain improvements. I got 4 triremes, a couple of catapults and archers(early age remember), and took the whole island in a brilliantly executed 3-turn campaign. I only lost 1 unit. No reprocussions.

The protagonist is trying very, very hard to think very clearly about trying not to think about something else. Read it again

You shouldn't lost any unit in a perfect war, Tekki.

"An army is a collection of expendable parts"

If you don't lose any units, it's not a war, it's a slaughter.

You used catapults and archers, right Tekkie? I think its better to apply guerilla warfare while during the beginning of the game (before Mobile Warfare that is), defense 's got an edge over offense. Besides, its more fun watching them starve...isnt it?

At lower levels I have played entire games, reducing the AI to one city, then going to alpha Centauri, without losing a unit.

I'm attempting a one-turn massacre in a current game. The Sioux occupy all of North America with about 10 large cities and well developed terrain. I, as the Russians, intend to land on the East coast in about twenty minutes and take every single city this turn because if I don't they will have access to Rocketry and will use those darn 'Sewer System' attacks on my carriers/transports.

Sewer System Attacks? What the heck is that?

I think he means that they will fling dung at him and sink his ships!

I think the best war I have ever fought was by taking 64 out of 76 cities in one turn and not losing a single unite doing it!!!
I laughed so much my stomach strated to cramp!!

Hi Palehorse76

I have posted it under the story section with the topic: A Story to be told.

It's the short version of a long game - hope you enjoy it.

Hi all! I've only been playing since last summer and this is my first post.

Recently, playing as the English, I had accumulated enough gold (thank you Adam Smith) that I incited revolts in 5 Celtic cities in the same turn - capturing 4 wonders and almost doubling the size of my armies. That led to my first victory at King level. Make money, not war!

My best war was against a player on the forum i will not name. It was a multiplayer game 1-1 with 7 civs. The nameless person was very convinced he would win !!! (haha i still laugh at him) Here is the story:
mmm i have nothing to do cause my cities are all ready. What shall i do. Aa i will make a couple of cruise missiles for fun, and one paraunit. one turn later and one city occupied. There came a strange message reading: I GIVE UP !!!!!!!!
haha that is what you call perfect war
One that finished before it really starts !!!

Here's my best war:

This war was against a human, which i will not name. He was the vikings, and although not as economically powerful as me and my allies, he had a larger army. He was making small raids against by small, poorly defended cities. Eventually I drove him out. Then, I loaded 4 triremes with elephants and catapults I attacked a city which was on a island, and conquered it with 1 elephant. The city was size 8 (this was an early age, so size 8 is considered huge). Then, I landed on his mainland, and in one turn, conquered 4 cities, each around size 8, and one over eight, which was his capital. I caputured 2 wonders in that skirmish. By then, he gave up.

It's not 64 cities, but its the best I can come up with in just my 4th game (1st at King)

Just last night I had prepared a force of about 40 cavalry and a bunch of spies to finish off the Sioux and their 6 cities. The first target was the capital...It took 4 spies, but the Walls of Little Big Horn came tumbling down and 3 vet cavalry units (plus 1 to occupy it) was all it took to move in. Then I thought...hey, no capital I bet it'll be cheap to buy the cities so my spies bought the other 5 for about 3500 gold total and I didn't have to build up any defenses because I took over the units from the sioux. The worst part was that 90% of my attack force got there with nothing to do but admire the work my spies had done. (You go, girl!!)

People should keep posting on this topic, I know I will once I have a win thats cool enough. Only by studying history can we know how to produce our own perfect wars.

fist of all, i would just like to say that this sig is awesome...

"The protagonist is trying very, very hard to think very clearly about trying not to think about something else. Read it again"

ok now, my best war was in one player, on prince (i think). I took all 21 of my opponents cities on his main island, and 12 others (out of a total of 40) in 2 turns. I lost like 1 spy in the whole campaign (taking out walls).

the wars in Civ II are way to easy, but for some reason i keep playing it...

can't wait for civ III

But what is the precise definition of a war?

If you lose a unit to a sneak attack, and that's the only unit you lose, does that attack happen before or during a war?

Or, what about the case where you've been at war for 30 or 40 turns, and the only battles being fought are at that fortified mountain that the computer insists taking, and which never takes but throws away 20 or 30 units at no losses to you?
