The phalanx needs help

The graphic is nice. But I agree. The problem is that when going up against an opponent without horses, a Greek phalanx is the same as an English axeman or Chinese axeman.

No barbs chariots either. It's just so underwhelming.

Now I know people are going to start saying Alexander's phalanxes are awesome. Ok I agree but consider this if you're attacking an opponent without horses, Alexander's phalanxes are exactly the same as Ragnar's axemen except Ragnar will actually get better macemen replacements than Alexander.

Really this is wrong.

Well then, it seems that your problem is with the game itself and not the greek phalanx. So you've built a bunch of phalanx's and it turns out that your opponent has no horses or is not building chariots. Either start a new game or maybe consider that one of the best things about Civ is that things don't always go the way you want them to.
