Can anyone offer some insight as to when the AI will run a surplus? Seems in the early game they never will; as time goes on the likelikhood they hav GPT for trade increases. Does it just get earlier and earlier the higher the difficulty level?

And Tomoyo, I noticed after I posted that that I spelled it wrong, and that made me laugh even more so I left it that way.

That's true; the AI will never run a surplus in the early game. You'll start seeing the AI offer gpt for techs or luxuries around the end of the Ancient Age on higher difficulties levels, shortly after they switch to Republic or Monarchy and/or start building Marketplaces. Before that, you might be able to squeeze out 2 or 3 gpt from them on Deity or Sid, but nothing more.
