In English we sometimes use nouns as adjectives, but the Proper adjectival form of “Aztec” is “Aztecan.”

Go into your Civ3Edit program now, and under the Civilizations tab in the “Rules” section, change the Aztecs’ adjective to Aztecan.

“If you want to do it, do it right.”—Gen. Yorgos K. Panayioutou

And if you REALLY wanna be that anal, the Aztecs refered to themselves as the Mexica...(Where do you think we got that name from?)

Sorry chaps but I think you'll find that the proper adjective for Aztec is Aztec.

Similarly the proper adjective for Inca (I have replaced the latecomer Americans with the Inca in my Civ III) is Inca.

At least that's how it works in ENGLISH English, but the English used across the Atlantic may be different . . .

Further to my comment above I think the plural of Aztec may also be Aztec rather than Aztecs, it certainly is for the Inca.

Well to give the original poster SOME credit, a quick look at dictionary.com DOES bear him out. Aztecan is the correct adjective to use for anything..Aztecan. But the PEOPLE of the empire are collectively known as the Aztec ;) Still seems a rather anal thing to be complaining about.

American English dictionaries list “Aztecan” as the adjective of “Aztec,” it wasn’t just my independent conclusion.

But it was no complaint, chaps. Just pointing out an oversight.

In San Antonio, where numerous descendants of the astecs have migarated, "Teka" is a commonly used adjective form of Aztec.

...with the use of Aztecan as the adjective for Aztec.

My english grammar could not be the best in the world, as it's not my native tongue.

So i'm not sure, but Incasian (Incásico in spanish) would be the adjective for Inca

Keep civilized

David

PS: Do Inca match with industrious and expansionist?

Mexica or Mexicameh would be proper in Nahuatl.

Lefty: I somehow doubt that those guys you met were real descendants of the Aztecs. They are probably some indio-inclined mestizos who are for some reason proud of the Aztecs...
"Teca" simply means "men" (TolTECA=People of Tollan; Azteca=People of Aztlan, etc.)

Well, the proper adjective actually is Aztec. As for the name, this is a hard one. AFAIK the Aztecs only had one city and several outposts. So really Tenochtitlan was their only real city - all the other cities are just names of other Mesoamerican tribes. Heck, the Tlaxcala allied with the Spanish /against/ the Aztecs, yet they are included as a city name. So you could put Tenochtitlan as the Aztec civ name. However, i saw somewhere that they refer to their civ as Mexica-Tenochtitlan. I'd go with either of those two for a civ name, the mod i am making uses Tenochtitlan

Since we're at the anally annoying foreign mispelling, it's Reims, and not RHeims, and Lyon, and not Lyons, for french cities. They keep making that mistake since Civ1, I think...
But who cares ? :)
