And the Aztecs were nothing like the Mexicans. Mexico is vastly more Spanish influenced than Meso-American.

Theoretically, your arguments are true and valid. However, Mexico occupies exactly the same position as the Aztecs, even to the point of having the same capital (Mexico City = Tenochtitlan). This might pose a problem to the purists who play the real world map. Not that I wouldn't enjoy a "Civil Disorder due to massive drunken rampages by college students on spring break" messages...

@ Tatran: It is a long well known fact that the Long Ears (Who built the statues) and Short Ears of Easter Island were Polynesian. However, your documentry seems to have missed something, Easter Island had large amounts of fish etc. and was overpopulated. Eventually the Long Ears and Short Ears went to war. By the time the Spanish arrived there was only one Long Ears left, a ten-year-old boy.
@Stonesfan: So that would make the Mexicans Spain+Aztecs, why would you want that? Personally I think that it's nice to have the more unique civs and, at current, all the South American civs are unique and unseen in the game.

@wildWolverine- thanks for trying to keep it kind of a fair fight- though I think the simple fact that I know so much about Byzantium is what keeps the other Byzantine supporters from posting- they dont wanna get into a debate which they wont be able to support with heavey artillery of big collage books.....

It should be either Mali or Polynesia (who really did have a fairly advanced culture, esp. if you include the Maori, Hawaiians, and Easter Island) - but it'll be Israel. They've been around a long time, it was in previous incarnations of Civilization, you could make Arab/Jew or Babylon/Egypt/Israel or the Crusades (most likely) scenarios ... but most importantly, there will be more people who are Jewish buying the game than there will be Polynesians or Malians. Just like with the last expansion, when some people complained about the Koreans being added.
