Bah, University of Nebraska still consumes more alcohol per capita than your so called partying schools. :p

but we have bikins- almost all year round :p and that makes my school better for parties

As important as Xen's birthdate and the amount of alcohol consumed and partying done in US universities is, maybe we ought to get this thread back on track.
To refresh your memories, I want Mali, Xen wants Byzantium, Certain people want Isreal for unexplained reasons, no one wants Polynesia, and SoCalian wants Brazil and/or Argentina. At least that's how I understood it.
Of course you could continue degrading my opinion of America in general with all this talk of university students who consume outrageous amounts of alcohol and "party" for no apparent reason.

I understand the Mali. And by the way what about the Maori? What’s your opinion? :-)

Wild Wolverine: !?!? What happened with Marlin Jackson??

Ontopic: Umm... yes... I say Mali as well... anybody know when they're gonna announce it?

My cousins are in collage- I'm 16, and collage seems to be more or less like high school, with more sex.

now back on topic... If it were up to me, I doubt any of the current civs('cept Inca) would be on the list, rathe I would try to balence the needs of

-the world map
-game trait balencing
-trully unique UU possibilites, with as much veritiy as possible, similer to the current situation with the spearman, and swordsman
-and coolness of the civ

this stated, my choices for the x-pack would be-

Byzantium
Plains Indians
Inca
Nubia
Azande/congo basin area civ
Polynesians (very unique possibilities with them)
south east asian civ

Jackson was arrested for aggravated assault: hitting a guy over the head w/ a bottle.

Since when has Xen fallen onto the Polynesian bandwagon? I thought we had completely defeated that idea... :(

I still think that the impotence small islands in the game makes a realistic portrayal of the Polynesians impossible. Even if they started the game being able to produce sea going galleys, the extremely limited production capabilities of 3/4 square islands would make any kind of powerful industrial base in the late game difficult to attain.

actually, I've always been with them, but for reasons other then world map representation

@ Zenon_pt: The Maori are the largest Polynesian tribe. It might be a good idea, rather than having Polynesians to have them as they lived on a much larger island. However I doubt many potential consumers have heard of Maori.
@ Xen: What on Earth are the World Map possibilities, the potential for a unique unit or the second trait (I can imagine they would be seafaring) of a Polynesian civ.
@ Chris85: You're a beta tester, it isn't fair for you to be here, I can feel you laughing at us.
And Finally, I want Mali. I'm tired of poor representation of civs in this game.

okay, why I like the polynesian civ, and think it should be in a civ game at some point :)

- cause Maori style henna tatoos are cool, and I get chicks by doing them

-the traits would of coarse be seafaring, and expansionist OR seafaring, and religious (easter island, need more be said?)

-the UU could be a little raft thing available with pottery that can travel on both coast and sea from the beginning, but it should only be allowed to carry one unit, and the AI needs to be told that its okay to put a settiler all by its lonesome in there....

- the world map possibilities are NEW ZEALAND :p.....and all those little islands and such out there...like hawaii :)

I'd say if you were dead set on it, they're more expansionist than religious.

I like this, although I'm mistifyed as to what it will replace.

the world map possibilities are NEW ZEALAND and all those little islands and such out there like hawaii
Much as I hate to admit it, New Zealand aint all that large.

You don't! Man, I know a lot of people who would have you hung, drawn and quatered for that. Stealing their mana and such.

I said Maori STYLE, I never, ever, ever take directlly from the Maori sources, but rather use the style to do my own art- my main symbyology being a sun symbol, which I have never seen on any Maori tatoos.... think of it as styling ones art work after art deco (the big bold lines that became rampant in the US in the 30s' and such)

and the little boat dosent have to replace anything, it can just come as a stand alone addition to the game, if that new little boat seen in the previews dosent make a unit for the UU to replace....

The Polyenesian UU could be a Galley alternative, but instead of being better, it could be worse, for a nice twist. This could represent the fact that they never had anyhting remotely close to a navy and only used boats for fishing.

but as far as I know about the polynesians (not much, I'll admit) they didn't have a written language, or map making skills....
