Sooo, I've been playing Civ V for a while now and I think I've got the hang of it well enough and after reading the story of The Swedish Saga I was inspired to do my own tale of a civ game.
So I give you, The Rise of Carthage! (don't get too excited now)
I find the Carthaginian civilisation fascinating, in game their UA encourages you to build a coastal empire which leads to interesting situations, crossing mountains isn't great but it adds to the flavour. Their UU's make them a good civ to warmonger early on, African Forest Elephants can be really effective. This is not to say I ONLY play Carthage on Civ V, I also have soft spots for Denmark, Babylon and England. Maybe its a hankering for the good old days of the British Empire, whatever the case I like naval based empires.
When playing Civ V I often Role-Play a little, that is name units and choose policies to fit the civilisation. History is a narrative after all, so in this thread I aim to give any readers a good story
I will be playing:
Map: Continents Plus
Size: Small
Major Civs: 8 (Carthage and the rest will be random)
City States: 16
Game Pace: Epic
Difficulty: Prince (cos I'm a noob)
and I'll be playing with no Mods, which is rare for me
I'm also cramming alot more civs and city states onto the map (as many as on a standard map size for a small map) in order to fill it and hopefully lead to more conflict early on as space runs out.
So lets get it started! I'll post the results of my first few thousand years in a day or two
Here's my start position, not bad I'd say - will be able to grow Carthage quite large with all that grain, shame about the lack of sea resources though.
