Alright, so I have been following Civilization V since the day of its announcement. I have meticulously analyzed every Civilization V thread and I know everything about the game - even stuff that nobody else knows! So I am going to bless you all with the ultimate guide that I use to win Civilization V every time. I call my strategy "The Rise of Teoyaomqui".
Let's first take a look at the Aztec civilization.
Unique unit: Jaguar (Warrior) - 50% combat bonus in jungles. Heals 2 HP after killing a unit.
Unique building: Floating Gardens (Water Mill) - +15% food over water mill. +2 food from lakes. Can be built next to lakes/rivers.
Unique ability: Sacrificial Captives - Each enemy killed provides culture.
As put by MrGameTheory, the Aztec civilization is THE strongest multiplayer civilization, and it's time to explain, in-depth, why that is.
Utilizing the ever-powerful turtle strategy, we are going to essentially incorporate barbarian encampments and city-states into our empire. But not allied city-states, oh, no! We are going to purposely insult the city-states to get them mad at us. We will tell them things like their mother was a hamster and their father smelt of elderberries. That will get their blood boiling. Now, make sure no other civilizations can have contact with this city-state. If another civilization goes to war with you for the city-state, it's no big deal - we'll just turtle them.
What we do is park a bunch of scouts and archers outside of each barbarian encampment and city-state like a school bus on your way to work. Unfortunately, the jaguar is useless, because scouts are far superior to warriors in every way - even unique warriors. The main thing we want to do is kill the barbarians from the encampments and kill those silly Scottish from Edinburgh. I never liked haggis, anyway. As described above, every unit killed grants you culture. Since the amount of culture needed to adopt additional policies increases with each city, we need to minimize our number of cities. Two-three is a respectable amount (all should focus on culture and production). I know this goes against MGT's rapid-expansion ideology, but I am sure MasterGameTheory will forgive me on this game-winning strategy.
The amount of culture gained from killing units with the Aztecs is fixed. This means that, depending on the unit killed, you will always gain the same amount of culture. This is a FUNDAMENTAL DESIGN FLAW, and this strategy seeks to exploit it. Therefore, by minimizing our number of cities, we turn barbarian encampments and city-states into culture-producing machines.
When barbarians or city-state enemies march out to attack us, our scouts will block their advance. We then proceed to use our archers to wipe the enemy out. As you gain culture, the first thing you need to do is max out the Honor tree. Then we'll max out the Piety tree, followed by Tradition, Freedom, and, finally, Order (United Front will help to reduce relations with civilizations among city-states). Then you can construct the Utopia Project and win!
Obviously if another civilization declares war on you, you will rely on the ever-powerful scout+archer turtle strategy. With only a couple of cities, your unit cap will be high enough to allow you to build what I call "The Great Wall of Turtles". It is impenetrable. Also, defense is irrelevant because everybody knows that MGT's strategy is unexploitable, and thus, everybody will be turtling. Anybody with an uncreative name like, "Axemen1212" or "LEETKILLER" is 93% likely to be a newb and should be booted from the game as soon as they appear in your lobby. As they are not privy to MGT's grand logic and strategy, their newb ways will ruin the enjoyment of your game when they incessantly attack you.
Feel free to pound me with any questions you may have about my flawless logic.
P.S. You should believe what I say because, about three years ago, I was ranked #70 in the world for my Firemaking skill in RuneScape. Also, I know how to spell meticulously.
:Edit: Because I am a nice guy, and because I was ranked the #1 best graphical artist by Steve Jobs, I decided to include an image detailing my strategy.
