Have I missed something? Why is it a good thing that McFarlane is doing this of all people?

I think he's just using his clout to get it done, and done right as he's a big fan of the original.

This isn't some History/Sci-Fi or is it Sci-fy hack job.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is hosting.

That said, the proof will be in the pudding naturally, but having people with enough clout to redo Cosmos is probably a good thing.

True, but considering the alternative, having a fan of the original back it and having the clout to keep meddling out is probably the best we can hope for in a reboot.

Yeah pretty much this. I do trust his creative instincts enough that I think he could potentially do something really great with it and Tyson hopefully will keep the fart jokes out it.
