No, it's not about me this time

I just wanted to tell you an incredible story how quickly can one politician's career be ruined.

So there was once a young politician, who sycophanted himself to the butt of the leader of a major party until he got into the leadership of it. He was rude and blatant and annoying. And his wife was a fraud (more about it later on). But he was going strong.



The fall started quite innocently. The wives of some Polish parliamentarists got a bit tipsy and made problems during a flight to Spain. It was covered by tv.

But soon it was discovered it was a work flight, apparently - which makes it worse

Then it was discovered (I may mistake the sequence a bit) that these 3 parliamentarists did fly to Madrid, but didn't actually partake in the proceedings, just signed the lists and left

Then it was discovered that they have taken money from the parliament for going there by car.

Then a video of this politician, drunk and acting indecently during this trip, already in Spain, was published.

Then it was discovered that they have in fact bought tickets much before even taking the money for car travels

Then it was discovered they were doing all this many a time; I mean taking money for car travels to some very far away spots, and not really participating in votings or even proceedings later on.

Also, this all brought up the nice affair of his wife, who received a job in a highly well-paid copper mining company thanks to the boss from the same party; she worked there very briefly, because when he was about to be fired, she got sick, then went for another kind of leave, then another, then another and she's been taking money without working there for 2 years now...

He and his friends were thrown out of the party... Probably because tt was all just before elections... and he may face up to 12 years in prison.

I must say I have seen many politicians fall down, and there was many a scandal, but this was something spectacular. I disliked him and felt sorry for him, because - lets be honest - so many people do stuff like this. I don't quite understand this, because they have enough money... but well, people do stuff like this all the time. But he got too careless and blatant and was punished for it HARD.

If his wife didn't start misbehaving on the plane it probably wouldn't have happened.

So basically fraud? How many years in prison is the wife getting?

she's still getting money from the copper mining industry

And the owners of the copper company don't care that she's scamming them out of money?

Yes, I thought of this. But you see, to get to, say, Spain in a car would get them a couple of days - 3 or 4 even - in one direction Not very likely, is it. And in this case they were filmed on board of the plane...

Polish MPs don't have cars? That's quite unusual, isn't it?

It is. It is possible they didn't put that into their declarations for some reason, like taxing, or just didn't fill it in as good as they should. I don't know.
