Their albums are being re-released on June 12th (check Wikipedia if you don't believe me!), so I'm awful excited.

Has anybody heard of them? Or heard their music? :)

If nobody minds, here's a couple of pictures (thanks to a friend of mine with 3000 George Harrison pictures on her site. Before you say anything, I'm the one who counted them!)

Doesn't Tom Petty play in that band? 'Tis all I know about it.

Yup :)

From Wikipedia:

The Traveling Wilburys of Volume 1 were:

* Nelson Wilbury - George Harrison
* Otis Wilbury - Jeff Lynne
* Lefty Wilbury - Roy Orbison
* Charlie T. Jnr. - Tom Petty
* Lucky Wilbury - Bob Dylan

The Traveling Wilburys of Volume 3 were:

* Spike Wilbury - George Harrison
* Clayton Wilbury - Jeff Lynne
* Muddy Wilbury - Tom Petty
* Boo Wilbury - Bob Dylan

Yep, I saw Tom play one of their songs a couple of years ago in concert.

I don't know much of their material, but I do like End of the Line.

I only know of one song - "End of the Line" -by them, as it was used in the finale of One Foot in the Grave. Is a great song, but didn't think to actually pursue the band further. Any suggestions on albums?

There's only two albums - Volume 1 and Volume 3 (there is no volume 2, except for bootlegs)

You can't buy them on CD yet, but they;re coming out June

I remember them. A great combination of great artists, though my favourite was Roy Orbison. :(

Thanks for bringing this up aimeeandbeatles.
This is cool. I've seen Tom Petty a million times and it's always a treat when he plays one of their tunes.

Here's a couple cool videos.
End of the Line

I can't find the version the Wilburys sang but man I dig this song. Roy Orbison was a mighty cool cat.

Except for the two mentioned albums, be sure to check out the solo-albums released around the same time as some of them were working together on those as well (IIRC, Jeff Lynne produced them all).

Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (Includes Mystery Girl written by Bono and the Edge and the hit You Got It. This was Roy's last album.)

Jeff Lynne - Armchair Theatre (Every Little Thing was the greatest hit from this solid album if my memory doesn't fail me.)

Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever (I believe everybody recognises Free Fallin' but there are many great songs on this album too.)

Bob Dylan also released an album around the same time but I can't remember its name.

There are also bootleg albums, although I'm not encouraging them (and I'm not against them either).

* Traveling Wilburys Vol. 2 (1989 demos and extended songs from Vol. 1)
* Traveling Wilburys Vol. 4 (1990 out-takes from Vol. 3)

Can't wait.

And I (along with Homer) wonder who Lisa Simpson's favorite Wilbury is? Is it Jeff Lynne?
