"Take a turn, Take our fortune,
They called the club, The Two-Headed Cow"
- from "Pilgrimage" by R.E.M.

After a half hour of roaming the streets of Innovia, I have yet to find any drinking establishment. In fact, I find no place where one can even sit down with friends, have a  and discuss the day.

So I decided to open a pub so that we can do just that.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Bugsy, or Bugs. Please do not add any titles to my name. I am a long time Civ III player and while I purchased Civ IV the day it came out, I am not that experienced with it. Therefore, as a member of this team, I will do the other things I am good at: socialize, bring people together, play music :band: , and drink  .

Some pub rules:

1. Be courteous to your fellow pub goers.
2. If you drink too much, don't drive, I can put you up for the night. We have a few rooms upstairs. And no they aren't available for that. This is a respectable establishment.
3. Lively discussion on any topic is allowed and encouraged.
4. Don't be boarish. I don't want to have to have Guido escort you to the door.
5. If you need to fight, take it outside.
6. Friday is open mic night. You can have the microphone for five minutes. You can share poems, lyrics, music or a story. After five minutes we cut you off, unless it is really good.
7. We will honor the Sabbath. Therefore, only wine will be served on Sunday.

We need some musicians for the house band on Friday nights. You don't need to be good, I'm not. You just need to have tolerance for lousy music and a good sense of humor.

We also have an opening for another bartender.

And with that, let the party begin.

From the other thread, we now have three folks in the band. Mauer is on keyboard, and Theoden will be playing guitar or bass as needed. More musicians are welcome. The more the merrier. For example, the band I play with in RL has 14 members.

Finally, a place where I'm not afraid to say something for fear of being laughed at! Although that's mostly cause the lights are dim  Anyways, I'll take a coffee with 2 equals. I also play the harmonica, not with any real ability, but I can make noise as good as any 3 year old with pots and pans ;)

Give me a drink, after my mistake of forgetting to offer open borders.

A coffee for the warlord and a stiff drink for the Dutchman.

Hey, if not offering OB is the worst thing you've done today, you're doing fine. Is the world going to come to an end? naaaah.

And Mauer, nice to see someone who speaks Latin. :D

Well, it's still pretty stupid, as I thought: "finally, we will get open borders, now I''l first go and offer them", and then I forgot!

:hammer2:

Can I have something strong? All this dealing with Aloha makes me thirsty. :)

At least we've got Open Borders now! (If they accept)

A strong drink for the Dane.

I have met the Alohaian BCLG in a past life. His friends call him Simon. He's a pretty straight shooter. He wasn't old enough to have a beer when I met him, but a nice kid.

Ok gentlemen (ladies if we got'em),

I have a question about MP games, and I only want the opinion of my fellow teammates, and the infamous Sir Bugsy. Say you're in an MP game, two nations at war (not you), and one of them conquering cities left and right. Is it fairplay to pillage all the tiles surrounding the newly conquered cities? And even further, if it is fairplay would you do it?

*cough* did I see Robboo make a post like this in the pitboss thread?*

I think it depends on your relationship with the new owner of the cities. If it's a ally, you shouldn't. But if you're having a cold war with them anyway, do anything you can to screw him!

this is my 1300th post, and your 1500? [party]

I actually haven't played any MP games. I know that when I have conquered cities in the past in both Civ III and Civ IV against the AI or in the demo game, I have advocated pillaging. It is essentially the tried and true "scorched earth" tactic of Napolean. However, just like in 1812, it can sometime backfire on you.

I would caution to use it with care.

Drinks all around for the 1300th and 1500th posts!

:mischief:

Yeah, it was me. Not only me! But it was me that got caught

He tried to get me to tell him the others, but I'm no snitch. Just a dirty pillager. Anyways, I gave him all the gold I had collected (roughly 300 gold!) and some gems. I'm actually thinking of retiring from the game. I can't win the game. At this point I'm just trying out new things. This is actually my first MP, and after talking to one of the others that is pillaging (who seems to have a better than fair honor code) I really didn't think it was a "cry foul" type issue. Maybe a "I'll declare on you" issue, but I didn't think tears would come from it.

Great, an on-line bar! That's perfect because Bethel is a dry town.

The last time I got to a bar was last winter while visiting in-laws in Nebraska. I got suckered into being designated driver while they watched a football game in a sports bar!

I hate sports…and loud places.

I'll have a double Morgan and coke, straight up if you please.

The Alaskan gets the Captain with some coke.

so how's it going with you?

Nice place ya got here. I can't partake in RL due to cholesterol meds  , but virtual booze only causes virtual liver damage.
I'd like a piña colada, frozen please. :)

Mauer, in your place I might have ignored robboo's theatrics, especially if your neighbor to the north was one of your partners in crime. My approach (which I admit led to my early demise) was to limit the boot licking to what I could stomach, which wasn't much. :crazyeye: In this case, I wonder if it might have ended up the world vs robboo if he went too far overboard. Hmm, gotta visit the thread again and see what's new. :D

I could accidentally click on the wrong spot and kick robboo to AI at an inopportune (for him) moment... :mischief: Nah, gotta play the even-handed and honorable host, but it's tempting!

Anyone interested in setting up a SG for the team, for learning and fun?

I would very much be interested in a Civ IV SG to steepen the learning curve.

A virtual frozen piña colada for the inventor from the desert. Since it is Sunday you get a dash of communion wine in it.

An SG is an interesting idea. How about we set it up with the same Civs as this game on Emperor difficulty?
