The World Turned Upside Down

So Dar-al-Islam and Dar-al-Islam alone holds the power to declare one country legal and another not so? Apparently, your approval of Somalia overrides the global community's consensus that Somalian sovereignty exists not and Abyssinian sovereignty does?

We have the right. The UN does not rule us.

Nor does Dar-al-Islam rule Abyssinia.

We have not actually determined if Somalia is internationally recognized. However the Chairman would like to state that by the UN's Constitution, legally Somalia would be up for admittance as of 1959.

It is involved in a conflict with the nation from which it gained its independence, and therefore would not be up for admittance, as per the UN constitution. Perhaps the UN Chairman should put on his reading glasses (or stop drinking the "medicinal" brandy) before making such statements.

While the Republic of Scandinavia does not want to be pulled down into another destructive War, we are willing to help out the Republic of Eire, and fight with our Irish Brothers to rid their nation of the rebellious Fascists.

If the world is at peace, Dar-al-Islam is looking to reopen the Olympic tradition with the Summer Games in 1960 to be in Baghdad. All are welcome. If support comes for this we will build state of the art stadiums and housing for the athletes.

Eire will not stop until the fascists who so eagerly wish to destroy the peace that our people have enjoyed on our soil for so many years are driven into the sea. Support of any form would be appreciated and never forgotten. The Fascists need to be shattered before they shatter our homes. As such we would like to announce the militarisation of our nation until such a time as the rebels are defeated, their leaders imprisoned and their armies broken. We call upon our people in rebel territory to hold on, help is on its way.

From Abyssinia
To World, Somalia...:
Abyssinia concedes that the people of Somalia clearly no longer wish to partake in our country and government. Clearly, democracy and freedom is not for everyone. A people gets the government it deserves, and the Somali people obviously don't want or deserve democracy.
We will thus withdraw our forces and administrators from Somalia as defined on the current world map. That shall be the new border between Abyssinia and the independent state of Somalia, then.
Our simple condition is that non-aggression pacts be signed between Somalia and Abyssinia, no attempts at claiming any more Abyssinian territory are made by the Somali government.
Furthermore, we remind that many of the industrial factories in those areas were built and subsidized by the central Abyssinian government. Therefore, we alone reserve the right to decide whether they be dismantled, scrapped, or turned over to the new government in Mogadishu.

We do not want to raise this conflict into a new horrible world war, and we are very disappointed that there are nations who turn a blind eye to Dar-al-Islam's violation of Abyssinia's sovereignty and sanction it, as a form of appeasement, even though it is for the honorable goal of avoiding global conflict again. It has become obvious not just that noone gives a damn about Abyssinia, but that sovereignty and independence are merely abstract concepts that are not followed, respected, or recognized.

We just want to issue a warning to all that apparently from now on any sign of unrest or minor dissent within your territories is a calling out for nearby nations to intervene and meddle with your affairs. They can now send troops at will, provide planes and ships for "volunteer" forces, and tear your territories away from you.
Since this clearly is the rule of the land in these times, know that Abyssinia will not be exempt from this right to intervene anywhere we please, and if we see any trouble in your countries, our volunteer forces will be right there to help the rebels as well.

Congratulations,
All countries' lands are now up for grabs by terrorists, rebels, and power-hungry rivals. And it is completely legal and internationally sanctioned to avoid war AT ALL COSTS. And there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

From Abyssinia
To World:
We do, however, resent the arbitrary claims by Dar-al-Islam and its allies that "this is a conflcit that clearly runs deep in Abyssinian society". BULL. The central states have long had Muslim and Christian living sidy-by-side, and there were no problems. None at all. No massacres, no hate killings, no ethnic or religious cleansing. None. Even in the more-recently-incorporated Sudanese territories there is not such hatred towards Christians or the government.

No. The trouble began when the radical Party of Mohammed started stirring the pot in Somalia, and sympathetic extremists assassinated our Emperor. Dar-al-Islam may not have funded or overtly declared support for these groups, but their readiness to send in troops - oh, sorry, we meant fly in "volunteers" - is a clear indication that these groups and their violent, hate-driven actions had the unofficial blessings of members of the DaI leadership. Only after the crisis began with the assassination and the resulting revolt that brought floods of refugees from the violent areas did ethnic/religious strife even begin to flicker. We can only be thankful that it has not resulted in nationwide killings, and that the chasm between the two is not so wide that the groups can't be reconciled to continue living in peace with each other.

Dar-al-Islam, and the Islamist extremists in Somalia that they are supporting, have just as much blood, if not more, on their hands as our government, our troops, or even the few radical Christians that engaged in revenge killings in some places. Dar-al-Islam has no right at all to claim or hold a moral high ground in this matter. None whatsoever.

You sure are good at calling names when you are about to deindustrialize, and as a result put thousands out of work and ruin Somalia. The UN shouldn't allow this as it is inhumane. As for minor rebellion. Minor rebellions don't take over so much territory and require you to beg the UN for support.

You're so ridiculous you make us laugh even in this sad and unfortunate time.
There was unrest; PEOPLE WERE BEING KILLED; DYING! OF COURSE WE CALLED IN THE UN! THAT WAS THE MOST IDIOTIC "ACCUSATION" YOU HAVE MADE AGAINST US YET, though we are sure to see more to come in the near future.
As far as deindustrializing, we have not decided either way, but again we reserve the right to decide, as WE PAID FOR THOSE FACTORIES. THE SOMALI REBELS AND YOU HAVE ALREADY ROBBED US OF A BIG CHUNK OF TERRITORY, OUR SOVEREIGNTY, INDEPENDENCE, AND LIVES! WE ARE SITTING HERE AND WE'RE NOT EVEN DEMANDING REPARATIONS FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ARMIES AND PEOPLE, AND YOU'RE CALLING US OUT FOR IT?
RIDICULOUS.
WHEN WE COME TO A DECISION ABOUT THE INDUSTRIES, WE'LL COME TO IT. BUT WHAT WE'RE SAYING IS WE'RE GONNA WITHDRAW AT PRESENT BORDERS, GIVE SOMALIA WHAT IT WANTS. THAT WAY YOU'LL HAVE YOUR OWN NICE LITTLE PUPPET STATE SO YOU CAN ENCIRCLE US AGAIN FOR A FULL-SCALE INVASION IN A FEW YEARS. YOU SHOULD BE CHEERING US ON AND PRAISING ALLAH FOR GIVING YOU SUCH A SWEEPING VICTORY!
We love how we're constantly being accused of fomenting war, violence, bloodshed and yet you're constantly trying to antagonize us and don't even recognize that we are giving "your brothers the Somalis" what they want.

And even if we do deindustralize, again, we paid for those factories, many were still state-subsidized, and so we reserve the right to decide what we do with them. As far as providing work for people, it is up to the new Somali leadership to provide it. We will not be subsidizing a government that violently rebelled from us and then had foreign invaders come into our territory and escalate the tensions and violence. We won't pay for the Somali economy. If the leaders of the Somali rebellion in their nice new capital of Mogadishu are so able to run their own state and lead their people, great! We'll let them do it! But we are under no obligation to help them or pay for it. NONE AT ALL!

You only gave the Somalis what they wanted because they started kicking your troops around and Nippon supporting peace. You are nothing without your alliance. As for invading you and using Somali as a puppet, read the resolution, it prevents that. If I was going to invade you it would have happened already. You did attack my navy and because your ships aren't good enough doesn't mean I have to pay you reparations.

OOC: Great Update. Poland's poor airforce.

To: Italy
From: Poland

Poland will assist Italy against Catalonia if you wish. The bombing of Italian civilians for no reason is unnacceptable.

We're willing to keep half of the industries in Somalia intact for Somali use.
Other than that, our property will either be requisitioned or dismantled by us.
Oh, and as for your comments about us crying to the UN about everything, we remind you that you run sobbing to the organization any time a single minor thing happens to one of your Muslim protectees (is this a word? i dunno). A Muslim might trip on cobblestone and break skin due to impact and you'll be crying "oh injustices! oh the discrimination". Think about it before you scold us like that.

In a largely anti-Muslim world we have the right to protect.

We urge nations to vote on Resolution 2-58 in the UN thread, and to vote Aye to end the crisis.

From Abyssinia
To Afro-Asian Alliance members:
We sacrificed our territorial integrity and allowed our sovereignty to be shredded and discarded, for a compromise deal brokered between the Alliance and Dar-al-Islam.
Next time, however, we will NOT be the sacrificial lamb for the Alliance. Anyone wants another part of our territories, it WILL be war and we will expect you all to follow the terms of the Alliance and join on our side. Otherwise, volunteer to give up pieces of your own territories before you go and negotiate compromise deals and treaties, because we're not having it.
And if that's your idea of what an Alliance is supposed to be about perhaps we're in the wrong arrangement here, because we have yet (to our memory) to see any other alliance carve up one of its own members before even consulting them of any such decisions.

Nippon made it clear that if Abyssinia were to amend the resolution to something they saw more fit and was still agreeable we would likely support that.
