Can't agree there. In most games, the suicide galley effort starts at Map Making, and succeeds at the latest around Theology. If you wait until Astronomy to make contact with the other continent, it's already too late. You're missing out on the brokering chances of most of the middle ages, and some more advanced AIs may have Navigation already.

The carrack is just a transport with an extra useless attack point. It is no better than the unit that it replaces.
 
Yay! Gogf agrees with me! The extra attack point on the carrack is also very useful, in an age of defending ships. I would rather have a dromon, but whatever. On bigger maps, the Carrack is awesome. It would take about 5-7 turns in the ocean to find the other continent, so the Carrack may very well serve it's purpose. That doesn't compensate for the fact that the Portugese have horrible traits, though.
 
F-15 is useless. The normal jet fighter is strong enough(but I don't use it very much). It think this small extra-power in the late game is completly unimportant.
 
American F-15.
Too late for a Golden Age + the F-15 needs
oil and aluminium.
Fission has a higher priority to research than
Rocketry,because of the United Nations.
After the U.N. is finished most games are over.
 
Why are Dromons(great on arch maps),Jaguar wariors,,Ansar Warriors,Enkidu wariors,Javalin Thrower,and Swiss Mercenarys here?their great!Panzers(good unit,bad timing)are good,as for Hwach'as, Men-O-War,and Musketeers try them with conquest inprovments.Impis,and Bowmen are simply medicore,the War Chariot is situational
 
Impis = best pillaging unit in the game. They come at a time when pillaging can make a big difference. Also the only unit that can escort horsemen.
 
The Incan Chasqui scout has to be it. The only specialty it has is a movement of 2 but for the rest it's as useless as any normal warrior. It's a pity.

This poll made made up of (hopefully) the bottom 20, so there are some definitely good units on here. Just for completeness sake, I guess.

f-15s come too late, but conquistadors are free promotions for enemy calvary(defends like a spear)and a waste of shields that could be spent on calvary
 
I voted the Chasqui Scout is horrible. If the Incas started with it, it would be another story, but who wastes the time building another scout if you could be mps/settlers?

Oh, and I have had spainish conquisadors sneak into my territory and get my workers and pillage, its REALLY annoying...

Finally, maybe it could be a doughboy, takes place of infantry, iwth extra defence (aka 6.12.1)

Yeah, I just though about that:lol:. I think they should have like 2 or 3 movement, hence the name Minute Man. 5atk and 4def maybe, or 3atk or 4def, or vice versa on either of them.

Edit:Those are pretty good stats for it, its a little to late for me though :).

This has been debated much, and the overall consensus is that the new American unit should be a super aircraft carrier, really currently the symbol of it's power. I tried to find the thread, but couldn't.
 
Interesting, we should make a thread on which units you would like to see replaced, and which ones you would replace them with.

Upgrading the H'watcha actually weakens it, since it loses lethal bombardment.
 
I used to think the F-15 because I always had my GA long before getting them, but the Inca Scout thing is the ultimate worst. It can hardly fight so getting a GA out of it is a waste.

How would it be increased? attack/defense, speed, or can carry more planes?

I guess it would carry more planes and have more movement. I wouldn't like it if that was their special unit either though, since it would come around the same time as the F-15, near the end.
