TheCivLifeR review of civ7:

He praises the graphics and says the gameplay foundation is very solid. He highlights the much improved combat and the addition of army comanders. But he also points out some problems, notably the bad UI and the lack of info to the player which can be a serious issue in the Modern Age when you have a lot of cities, buildings, quarters. He also criticizes the lack of options when you make peace (you can only give cities, he would like to see more things you could negotiate) and the leaders in the diplo screen are not very immersive in his opinion. He also highlights the bad AI in combat but also in forward settling again (due to no loyalty mechanic).

Overall, he says the game is fun to play and the core mechanics are solid but it also has many issues and he feels the game was rushed. But he is confident that once the issues are fixed, civ7 will become a very good entry in the franchise.

Beyond flawed. Couldn't play it. It played itself. I had a feeling I wasn't needed there.
On the plus side it cured me - one more turn syndrome gone forever. Those seventy bucks were well spent, after all.
