I think it was because the 'fastest computer' was hosting. One of the slower computers needs to host.
Both Direct IP and Hamachi work fine. (if you can get it to work right, of course ... heh, circular logic I know, but there ya go)
!Edit:
Before I forget, also, Barbarian World tends to make my BTS crash ... heh ... so yea, slower computer hosting and using Barb World off (but raging barbs is fine of course )
Hmm, I guess I could write a report as I ended up winning ... BUT! I'd much rather the others write RP stories from their point of view. (I may well end up writing a story anyways, but just saying)
Aaah sorry Artic...I'll share some highlights, but I'm not the RP AAR kind of guy : P
We ended up playing Masters of Mana since we were having too many OOS issues with the original game.
I was Sheiam, Tasunke was the Lizardmen and my brother was the Giants, the rest were AI. The game was pretty quiet for the most part as we were trying things out (was second time MoM for my brother and I), but after about 150 turns of experiments on my little island fortess I went on a rampage throughout Pangea and ignited world war one. I, Decius, the Dark Elves and Hyborem on one side, and Tasunke, my Brother, the Kuriotates and the Sidar on the other. It wasn't exactly that clear cut at first because camp evil was mostly formed through the Undercouncil and camp good was the cumulative effects of me forcing everyone in the council to attack everyone.
Everything was going my way for the longest time. I summoned hell, pushed the Arma counter to 60 and burnt everything all in a few turns...
This is an after shot once I was killed. Tasunke's lush swamps are to the left, the Sidar empire is the burning husk where Hyborem is. The bright looking nukes on the maps are walls of fire
Unfortunately I got a little ahead of myself. The swamp savages to the South (Tasunke's lizardmen) that I had ignored for most of the game had suddenly shot up in power after mass producing troops and getting his Wyvern in a very short period of time. My army in the meantime was stuck after having cut through to the other side of Pangea. The only way back to my now besieged capital was blocked by the chaos I had created: numerous walls of flames, barbarian camps, and 1 of the three Horsemen that I had set loose on the world. Tasunke sieged and destroyed my fortress island before I could return in time, but I left my scar on this planet for all to remember : P
I grow weary. The Armageddon cult had finally reared its ugly head from the deserts west of the Sidar. And its head grew rather large. From the deserts they had crept to the sinister northern shores ... where with the help of Os Gabella's magicks they had suddenly crafted a huge fleet within a matter of months.
Spoiler:
Along their dark pilgrimage, they gathered a growing number of followers ... promising them power for their unholy servitude. Most of the followers knew not from whence the dark magics came ... for they were blinded by their thirst for power and knowledge. The poor fools ...
As these cultists were building their boats, they managed to make contact with a small, independent city of merchants, far from the coast. They made contact because Ratteholm, the forementioned city, was having a problem with Caverats and goblins. In fact, there was rumor that a huge rat army would soon assault the city. The city then sent out scouts in all directions to look for help from any source. Joseph Stein was one such scout, and he happened to come upon the cult. However, as he approached one of Gabella's pet snakes bit deep into his ankle, causing him to fall over in pain, and as he struggled to fight against the pain, the poison worked its evil magicks. Before he passed out however, a promising cultist by the name of Judas Arbandi spotted him and noticed that he must have come from a distant and civilized place, due to his strange garb. (He was wearing Ratteholme's city colors).
Judas wasn't the most prominent cultist, but he was familiar with those among Os-Gabella's inner circle. Those that weren't demons, of course. The demons had taken human forms in order to not scare off human recruits, but they were still terrifying to be around. Only high ranking demons could take human form, and they could only do so if their summoner had a 'prepared' human host ready to possess at the time of the summoning. Of course Os-Gabella had been meditating for hundreds of years in the desert, contemplating the ways she could end creation ... and during this time, with the help of Ceridwen, she had gathered a host of demonic allies. Allies which helped her proselytize the nearby desert nomads to be her fanatic followers. Judas had not been a desert nomad, however, and indeed most cultists had not, even though the cult had just recently exited the desert. Most of the more recent initiates had been travellers that had pilgrimaged to the site in awe of the stories of the magically talented desert nomads, and once there, had been seduced by the promises of power.
Well Judas took Joseph Stein to Os-Gabella, or as close as he could get at least. Someone else took him inside the tent. Os-Gabella towered over the dying man, and she tapped into his mind to communicate with him. "I see you have come from a humble city, good merchant. I see also that you are dying. You know the ways of the city ... if you could convince them of the power of magic, and have them convert to our cause, I will spare your life." "But what could I do to convince them? I have no powers ... and I am do die quite soon. How can my life be spared if I die in my quest?" "Hmm ... I have a pet ... ELSEwhere. I will connect your lifeforce to his, and as long as he never dies neither shall you. Then I shall send you on your quest. If you fail, I shall sever the bond and the poison will finish you off. Oh, and don't worry, you won't be able to feel pain as long as the bond is in place, so you will be able to focus on your duties ... speaking of which, I will need to imbue you with a demonic soul to give you great magical powers."
And that was that. Joseph Stein was renamed to Tebryn Arbandi. He became pact brothers with cultist Judas Arbandi, and Tebryn was the name his demon soul imbued him with. He never learned of what dark pet Os-Gabella was referring to, but he found enough in the restricted libraries to suggest that it was a powerful and foul beast. Tebryn went back to the city, saved it with his magics, and took over as head of the merchant's council. He declared that emergency powers be enacted, and set himself up as dictator of the city. To please the masses, he opened up a number of schools to be free for the public. Entrenched within the curriculum was a heavy dose of both magical studies and demonology.
Vocal Opposition would be publicly executed by manner of turning them into Pyre Zombies, and violent opposition were captured by Tebryn's magics ... to eventually be thrown into hell once the Planar Gate was completed.
Once Tebryn had complete dictatorial power over the city, he renamed it to Gavelholme, to reprseent his dark Gavel of Authority.
Meanwhile, the true cult members had taken their fleet and sailed to a large island just barely off the coast. The cult took to constructing a massive fortress-city ... something that they could use to exert their dark influence over the world. Os-Gabella never gave the city a name, and so it was just referred to as "the city" or "the fortress." However, there was a spire atop one of the magical towers that was used for executions. There were many places for all types of executions, but this one was for those too weak to continue in the cult's duties. The bodies would be corrupted by magics and put on display (impaled on the spire) in order to put the fear of Os-Gabella into all denizens, so that they would continue their work to the fullest.
Because of this spire of crippled and corrupted bodies, the city began to have the nickname "Crippled Peak."
Using the ships to establish an Island fortress, the cult renamed itself to the Sheaim, finally confident that they could announce themselves to the world. Well I already knew of their existence. I knew of it as soon as our first mystics divined a great evil from within the northern deserts. Still, we are an isolationist race ... we do not engage in trade, for what could we need outside our glorious jungles. Still, we do open our borders out of kindness, so that foreigners will be able to discover the greater glory of our jungled cities.
Our great rainforests are a gift from mother Kalshekk, the great mother of all the earth. Her beauty is seen in all things, and epitomized in the granduer of the Volcano 'Mount Kalshekk' for during the terrible age of ice, our people managed to survive within the caves of the mountain, warmed by the lava below.
Therefore it is not normal that we have reason to leave our rainforests, especially to dispose of a cult that may or may not cause problems. For we are, while not pacifist, we are opposed to needless bloodshed. Therefore we had let the Sheaim do what they must, from their fortress of Crippled Peak and the common city of Gavelholme.
However, today they have gone too far! We hear word of sinister Stephanos and Buboes prowling through the lands, killing and driving mad the humans in the East. Our forests are plagued by a blight that entered from the human lands ... perhaps it was a disease brought in from tourists or travelers ... but no matter, it is killing our crops, our livestock, and our infirm. This must be punished! We have reason to believe that the Sheaim concoted this BLIGHT in their filthy Alchemist labs.
Day 2
My messenger pterasaurs have re-roosted in their nests after a long flight to the free cities of Mazatl. Tonight we will ride on the High Lizards for the east. While we, perhaps, do not have the forces to move directly against the Sheaim, for months now we have known of their hidden "Undercouncil" which composes of the Sheaim, Infernals, Bannor, and Svartalfar. I have known bannor of other lands that would curse at the name undercouncil, but leave it to that mad rogue Decius to undergo such deception.
My loyal Wyvern Guardians will take the lead, backed by a few mages (my personal shamans of the royal court). A few hunters, looking for a fun, clean fight, have joined in of their own accord. Each Wyvenrn Guardian knows well the art of the Spear, and can take on numbers far greater than their own. Any one Wyvern Guardian could put an Elohim monk or a Doviello Battlemaster to shame. They are an elect order, of course, so we only ever have a few of them at any one time, but their order is great indeed. The 'Order of the Wyvern', they get their fighting strength, some say, from the spirit of our great Wyvern Coattlan. In addition to our 4 Wyvern Guardians and 2 mages, we have a militia about 2000 men strong that will follow our Wyverns into battle. They stay in the cities and exercise with their pet lizards, or snakes, our raptors. All militia must have a pet that they can ride into battle ... or at least that they can use for quick deployment. We also have our Shield-men. Our Shield-men garrison our cities, act as guards and watchmen, and make good sparring partners for the rest of our troops. Even though our massive cities have upwards of one million citizens each (600,000 800,000 and 1,200,000) we only have around 50,000 shield-men total. We consider the jungles themselves to be a strong enough obstacle, that we do not need large garrisons.
The shield-men are usually always kept inside the cities, so that we may defend ourselves, so we will only be committing a total of 10,000 shieldmen ... which is most of the shieldmen in the east. Since they do not have mounts, they cannot easily mobilize. So we cannot expect the western cities to field their shieldmen in time. Why is time a factor? Well, the world as we know it may end soon, and so we must act now to stop it! Let us fight them in the darkness, fight them in the light, fight them wherever they are weak, and keep on until our world can surely be saved.
Finally lets talk about the hunters, who -for the record- are coming of their own accord. Hunters spend most of their time away from the cities, deep within the deepest parts of our glorious rainforests, battling with friend and foe alike. There is not a hunter that has not slain at least one fierce dinosaur, yet there is also not a hunter that has not gone to raise the slain one's eggs as their own. Most of the time the Hunters will release these hatchlings into the wild, so that they may have new opponents to fight later down the road. However, sometimes they will take a liking to a particular youngling, whether lizard or dinosaur, snake our bird. Even the rare pterosaur they may tame, even though technically all pterosaurs belong to the royal families. This we turn a blind eye to, as there ARE wild pterosaurs, and why not let them be tamed by our people? So long as no one steals a royal pterosaur, there is no reason to intervene. Hunters may spend much of their time alone, but they are also very social citizens of the empire. They have large families, most of them, and a great many friends. Sometimes a group of hunters will decide to hunt as a pack; usually if encountering, or hearing about, a particularly large or fierce beast. Therefore it should not be surprising that a large portion of our population takes up the occupation of the hunter. Sure most of our people are merchants, artisans, and laborers, but if we had a specialty, it would surely be hunting. (And if hunting is the blue-collar hobby of choice, then magic is certainly the hobby of the nobility. It is trendy for all the royal families to have their own personal library filled with magical tomes, and to be tutored by traveling wizards). Now then, We probably have around 100 thousand hunters in the empire in total. Our biennial census is usually more concerned with the family trees of the nobility than the average hunter, plus many are gone for months at a time, so it is hard to be sure. Still, from the reports that I am getting, we will likely see around 20,000 hunters to join us for this year's season of conquest.
Day 30
We can see the walls of the Bannor city Tentatio-Onis. Each of our Wyvern Guardians has taken command over 500 militia troops. The hunters are acting independently, while the 2 mages and I are leading the 10,000 shield-men.
