I havent played civ1 in AGES.... and its my favourite ciz, just coz its the origional :D

so i pop in the CD and give it a go... i go on emperor difficulty, and its REALLY HARD. Emperor on civ1 is harder then deity on civ2 and 3. At least in those games i can survive till industrial times, in civ i get my ass wholy kicked :D.

Still, it remains very fun

Some people think that the original game is easier because it's old. But as you found out, that's not necessarily so. There are other things that are harder too in Civ1 - try playing OCC!

I've won in Emperor. Just tried 1, coz I'm affraid to try it again...

Strategy:

Play on Earth
Start in Africa with Zulus
Choose other CIVs as Europeans (French and Roman for example)
Do settler diaherrea and conquer all Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe (especially and ASAP Suez channel!!!)
Build the Great Library (their 2~3 cities produce more sceince than your empire)
Trade science to have good attack units, if needed
Make many many units!
Kill them before they start building boats

It's hard!
Consider yourself warned, but give it a shot ;)

Good LUCK!
(you'll need it...)

If you're good, you may repeat my success

I think the term "diaherrea" is not noble enough for those brave settlers, really.

OK, I admit: I miss Zouave and his posts.
The origin of that expression is him.

But you can hapilly change from it to "Settler boom" or"Settler explosion" :)

Just do it and don't spend time giving names to it... ;)

I use the snes version, there are no zulu, just Japanese.. and I can't pick my enemies..

Babylon might be good for that, or Egypt. Especially if both Babylon and Egypt exist. I once played as Egypt, went exploring, and ran into Babylon when they had a population of 2 and no military units =D Then I conquered almost all of Asia, but then India and China both wiped me off of Eurasia, and I had to escape to the American continent. =\

I think I'll try it again though.

Babylon can not prevent Egipt from having 10 o more cities.

It's VERY impotant to make them don't have moe than 3~4 at maximum. I achieve the result of only 2 for one and 3 for the other. It's difficult, but you chances improve greatelly, I think...

Yeah, try again. Courage, and you'll succeed :)
