Ok, I'm getting on my high horse now. I'm Black and I play Civ!!!! I've played Civ since it first came out, and I have almost all of the Civ series. I am so tired of stereotyping. I am not stupid, nor do I listen to rap music. I do not speak ebonics, nor did I grow up in the ghetto, etc. I do most of the things that you guys do. Ok, I'm going to get off my horse now. This topic is probably best elsewhere.
Btw, Willem, I'm curious about your question. I'm only wondering, you see. I imagine that your question was only out of curiosity.

I don't know what you are asking. If you think I'm a racist or something, you're wrong. In Amsterdam (and specially the part where I live) about 30% is not-Dutch (most Maroccan, Turkish and Surinamees). Some of my best friends are black (basketball!).

We want the same things for our children, we respect the law, and believe that an education is very important. I think that the media focuses on the negative instead of the positive. They don't tell about the Black physicists, engineers, and scientists who are doing positive things. Instead, they focus on Blacks in entertainment and sports and Blacks who commit crimes. That presents a very lopesided picture of Blacks, especially to people in other countries. I think that people don't realize that environment is a major factor in people's outlook on life. I imagine that a Black person who was brought up in say, England, Germany, or The Netherlands would have the same pride for their country, and would have many of the same attitudes and interest as their countrymen.
Anyway, just to keep this on topic, here's a fairly recent pic of me.

There may be buku around, I don't know.
Usually though, blacks don't seem to fritter away time too much on certain things.

There are certain things that blacks as a general rule aren't into. Civ, seemingly, one of them.
You ever see black people bungee jumping,
ski jumping, parachuting, riding in a rodeo,
launching themselves in air on skateboard,
demolition derby, motocross,Evil Kneivel-like stuff, etc. ?
Some, but not many.
I don't do that goofy ass stuff either.
If it sounds bad, I didn't meant it to.

Cool! I lived in Colorado Springs from '88 to '91. It was a culture shock for me at first, because I'd moved there from Chicago. It's a pretty nice little town, though. The surrounding area is gorgeous.
