@Zappara left this community at 3rd December 2010 - this mod is essentially abandoned.

But Rise of Mankind got revived like phoenix, under name of Caveman2Cosmos!

Hmmm... Since KROME and C2C rose from RoM/RoM:AND, then...

Basically KROME Beta is younger brother of C2C, that can run on weaker computers?

So KROME Beta tries to be playable on old computers?

Caveman 2 Cosmos tries to be expansive mod with lot of content?

Can C2C "borrow" some AI/Performance improvements from KROME?
Or they are simply incompatible?

well KROME is basically a merge of an early RoM (that made no changes to the basic bts mechanics/ai [it didnt include its own dll at that stage]) and K-Mod (super awesome funky mechanics/ai of doom). C2C has its own custom dll and has evolved (and continues to evolve) differently to K-Mod. tracking down and integrating stuff from K-Mod would be a pain for the most part.

the devs of C2C are constantly looking for ways to improve performance (like the cool viewports system), of course a lot of the performance hit is due to sooo much stuff in C2C.

Rise of Mankind
is still going and don't confuse people "A New Dawn" is a totally different mod to "RoM:A New Dawn".:mischief:

Never heard about that mod... Two mods with the same name, quite weird. I was of course talking about ROM: A New Dawn and I am not confusing anyone becouse I have posted precise link to that mod. BTW I dunno what you mean by "still going". Rise Of Mankind last version was 2.92 and is not under development. Rise Of Mankind: A New Dawn is an expension to ROM, not a new version of original ROM.

The RoM in KROME is version 1.03. This was before REVDCM was added into RoM and before RoM would need a .dll file. So this version was The Basic RoM. Even before AND was a Modmod for RoM. So KROME is actually a sibling to RoMAND.

RoM1.03 is playable on older Computers, my old PIV with 768 Mb of ram and a 128Mb vid card can play it (as long as the vid card has shader2.0 tech in it).

C2C IS The Most expansive mod in the civfanatic fan base.

As Satrapper stated KROME incorporates karadoc's superb AI mod called k-mod (v1.31) to give enhanced AI play.

C2C and k-mod has collaborated some in the past (Koshling of C2C and karadoc have shared programming ideas) but C2C's AI team of Koshling, AIAndy, and Thunderbrd have a Lot more content to work on on making the AI better for C2C. So theirs Is a bigger project. At this point only base Civ IV/BtS AI concepts are compatible as Koshling has rewritten (from the ground up so to speak) several of the BtS AI routines.

Hope that helps.
