Thoughts and questions about towns

So a couple of questions and thoughts about towns.

When you have more than 1 city what determines which city a town will feed? Will the town feed the closest city, what if it's equidistant from 2 towns?

I know you can get a broad overview of how much yields towns provide to a city but I would love to see a list of exactly what towns are proving resources and how much per town. Are there any mods for this? Have the devs talked about addressing this?

It would be great if you could manually assign towns to cities, again any mods for this? Has this been brought up by the Devs?

Settlement connections determine which towns feed which cities. If a town has, for example, three connections to cities, the food will be split between all of them equally, no matter the distance.

I can't recommend the mod City Hall enough. It will give you all the info you're asking about and more, through mouseover pop-ups and much more detailed info on the settlement screens.

By settlement connections I presume you mean a road (or fishing quay for settlements separated by water)? I'll give that mod a try, do I need to start a new game for the mod to work?

I just tried that mod, holy **** that's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you.

So using the mod I can see that my one island town seems no to be connected to some of my settlements (all costal settlements have fishing quays and all inland settlements have road connections). Upon further investigation I realized that all the settlements not connected to the island town are on different continent.

If you look at the screenshot for an example the island town at the top left of the screen shot it connected to Roma but not Madrid even tough they all have fishing quays.

Yep, as you learned they have to be on the same continent. As arbitrary as continental boundaries can be, I think this requirement should be removed.

The creator of that mod, beezany, has a couple others you might be interested in. Map Trix now gives you a full, clickable unit list. I'm using over twenty mods that are all UI fixes or improvements. If you want a list I'll look it up and write them out.
