They probably wont do it for conquests, but it appears that Mao is not wanted as a leader for China. My question is: Should we throw him out? and who should we repace him with?
Yes. In my opinion, Mao was as ill-considered a choice as Stalin was. The difference is that they wised up and ditched Stalin, but Mao has persisted all along. I think it would be much better to go with a great Chinese Emperor, like Shihuangdi or Xuanzong.
You are making a major flaw that pollsters should deal with when analyzing their results. What does "I don't care enough about the topic to even answer this poll" equate to? I contend that every person who doesn't care enough to vote doesn't mind that Mao is the leader. Last I looked you were up to 15 who care enough to bother checking one way or the other. 12 who want him gone, 3 who definitely want him to stay, and ~30000 who don't mind him enough to check Yes.
As would I. Mao wasn't as terrible a choice as some people make him up to be (though hardly a good one), but an historical emperor (especially since the China depicted apparently has a Rider UU, not a People Liberation Army UU) would be far more appropriate.
Cavalry were extremely important to ancient Chinese warfare and the Rider (poor choice of name - they should have left it in Chinese) is quite appropriate.
Shih Huang Ti would be sweet. And an ancient guy would look more "generic" chinese so better for mods. YOu just can get around seeing Mao under those middle age closes and it takes you out of the era feel (Lincoln does the same).
I'm one of the "No's". Actually, a "Don't Give A Rat's..." choice would have expressed my opinion more accurately.
After the first couple of times I've played with or against a new civ I hardly pay attention to who the leader is or what he/she looks like.
Mao may not have been the best choice for China and "Rider" may not have the greatest authenticity, but China is a good civ to play and the Rider is a good UU. That's all that really matters to me.
Sarevok, there are three states to the question whether you asked it that way or not. I still contend that people who don't care outnumber the vocal minority who care one way or the other.
