Time for Sox fans to worry yet?

The Yankees used up all their runs. It is even better because they wasted a great outing by Lieber. :)

I didn't get to watch the game until... the 7th inning! First thing I saw was the the score, then the announcer mention the no-hitter, then the home run.

Wow I'm optimistic.

Oh man! :wallbash: There goes the 2nd game of the series... 14-3 Yanks in the 9th! Sox didn't even get a hit until... the 7th inning, or something?!

Show 'em up tomorrow, Red Sox! :)

Another :spank: on Sunday for the Red Sox :cringe:  . The hex continues  .

That would be quite a show. :)

Unfortunately, baseball and it's players are wimps, by and large.
Actually the problem is a wet baseball. It is hard to grasp, hard to throw and hard to hit. If a pitcher can get a portion of the ball wet, we're talking legal spitball.

So a pitcher that sweats a lot has an illegal advantage over the hitter?

A pitcher that sweats a lot has a legal advantage over the pitcher. When you throw a moist ball, it is like throwing a split-finger fastball. Your fingers don't grip the ball as well and the ball doesn't go as fast, while your arm action is the same. The hitter has difficulty picking up the difference. That's one of the reasons why the umpires change the ball so often, no scuffs, no moisture, no foreign substances.

The pitcher is supposed to keep the ball clean and dry... supposed to.

All I have to say is...QUIT BELIEVING!!!!

There is a special place reserved in the after life for the believers. a place where we watch the Yankees and their fans suffer for eternity, losing every game 27-2.

That wouldn't be too much fun. We need some 27-2 games, but some have to be 19-0, with the occasional perfect game.

Actually, every one of them would be a nail biter, with the Sox victorious with come from behind victories that crush the Yankee spirit.

WHat is hell for one is heaven for another I suppose, but don't worry you'll win....in a few hundred years :P

P.S. I like hockey more than baseball

I suppose if we win, we'll be happy for a few months, then we won't cheer as hard next year. So by losing, the Sox might sell more tickets! ...but people will lose faith...

You know that had GOT to be the biggest myth going. If the Sox win this year, then I will be an insufferable bastard for the entire offseason, and then it will all start over next year. I realize that the losing makes us perhaps the most ravenous fans on earth, but that doesn't mean we won't like winning too.

As an example, I would point to the other team around here that has seen success as of late. The Patriots had their own little legacy of losing for a while there, and their fans were just as wacky (though not as many of them due to a shroter history). Once they started winning, their popularity has actually started to rival the Sox.

But Boston is still a baseball town. ;)

The entire time I lived in New England, most people I knew hated the Pats. Most folks were Giants fans. That went back to the NFL-AFL days when the Boston Patriots were the red-headed step children and the Giants were the nearest NFL team. My Pop still hates the Pats even though they won the SB twice.

a) a true sox fan will never stop believing
b) a true sox fan wont lose his edge after the sox win the series
c) this is the year its gonna happen win it all

I can't believe it, but we're on a three-game losing streak!

Nice to know that Boston will be even more crazy next year.

1 game pickup last night thanks to Cabrera! The trade bears more fruit ;) .

Cabrera has certainly paid off in spades. Not his only game winning hit, and he is out there every day. Meanwhile, Nomar has missed 'significant' time with the Cubs. Funny, that's what he told the trainers would happen, though he later denied it. ;)

I *think* that they hold their destiny in their own hands now. If they were to win out, they would get the division. They have a 3 game set with the Empire, and a game in hand. They would own the season series, giving them the tiebreaker. Unlikely, I know, but at least we don't have to count on the Yankees stumbling.

I think the wild card is well in hand now. I want them to win the division from the Spankees.
