I just wanted to talk about this awesome poster that I got from UsefulCharts.com. It is really cool. It does a great job of summarizing the civilizations and progression throughout History. I highly recommend it.
I really like the eras that it uses for History.
Early Bronze Age: 3300 BCE to 2100 BCE
Bronze Age: 2100 BCE to 1200 BCE
Iron Age: 1200 BCE to 600 BCE
Classical Antiquity: 600 BCE to 500 CE
Middles Ages: 500 CE to 1500 CE
Modern Period: 1500 CE to Present
Another thing that is neat is to see how civilizations started pretty few and split and grew over time. I wish civ6 allowed new civs to emerge and split off of existing civs.
We also notice that the bulk of development was centered around the Middle East and Europe. That is where we see a flurry of "activity" with several civilizations rising and falling. This makes sense since we know that the fertile land around the Mesopotamia was particularly conducive to a population explosion and more civilizations interacting with each other which led to a rapid development of technology.
We can also see that the timeline gets more "busy" later one and that "busyness" spreads to all the continents as the Europeans started colonizing the Americas and beyond.
Hopefully, we can chat about world history and if you already have this poster, please share what you find interesting about it.
