Here's my first totally amazing contribution to the Hall of Fame. Tiny, Emperor, 20K as the Byzantines. Yessss!

20K on emperor is when it starts to get tough IMO. I stopped at Monarch as I was getting fed up praying to the RNG gods for a number of SGLs in the AA. Congrats on your victory!

It was an 80% water 'pelago. Constantinople had iron and horses within its radius, and the second city had ivory. All in all, a great starting location. I only had 3 cities for half of the game, and didn't bother expanding besides kicking the Zulu off my island. No wonder my score is so low.

SGL's are weird. I just got Conquests, and I'm still not used to their randomness.

Just in case you are not aware, you need to be the first to get a new tech to stand a chance of getting an SGL. It's a 5% chance for sci civs and 3% chance for others for each new tech discovered. (Apologies if you already know this.) They can make a significant difference to 20K games as the early wonders with early double culture can knock centuries of your finish date. Totally unbalanced therefore!

I agree. I got a SGL before the Colossus was done, which allowed me to build the GL in one turn!
