This is an alternative title screen which should go with any Japanese scenario.
It features the famous Himeji castle.

Download it here.

Looks good TopGun. :) I don't always d'load these things but I'm ready for a Jap one after I lost my Conquests one a while back.

How did you lose it? Isn't it set up as the standard intro background when you first start up Conquests? I'm merely curious.

Oh and TopGun, I'm not sure if it was a typo or not, but the era this background refers to is called Sengoku, which means the "Warring States Period". Not trying to be a nit-picker, just wanted to let you know. ;)

IIRC the backgrounds that come with mods only appear when you quit to the main menu after loading the mod. I change the background to whatever I happen to be into by replacing the main title.pcx so it works like a wallpaper, showing every time I start the game. I failed to make a backup the first time I did this...

The way it is now I thought he meant Sudoku. When I clicked on the link I was imagining a number puzzle background. :crazyeye:

I see...so you basically just replaced the default image. Makes sense now...

I had the same exact initial thought hehe!!! Well not about imagining a number puzzle background, but about TopGun confusing the two terms (sorry if I'm stepping on your shoes with that presumption TopGun ).

That's what happens when you rely on recollection alone.

BTW, I corrected the entry in the downloads database.

The title screen is nice. But what is with these black buttons?

They're placeholders for the actual buttons.

To be honnest, I could need nice slim buttons to replace the clumsy Civ Complete buttons :D (the ones of the normal Civ versions don´t work well).

That would require changing another pcx.
x_title buttons.PCX and x_title buttons alpha.PCX specifically.

Yes, but here I always do something graphically wrong. :D The buttons that are good with these files for Civ 3 Vanilla, PTW and Conquest give strange results when transferred to the Civ Complete title screen. One of these results are black dots as shown in the screene of this thread, another result are solid quadrangles with a hole in them and no button to see.

Black dots are the buttons for versions other than complete. Complete uses Silver push type buttons instead of simple black circles. Not sure about your last statement.

Civ 3 Vanilla used nice slim buttons (screene attached).

I attache another screene. These quadrangles are shown when I try to use them. I must have missed something with the buttons.

Edited: I reduced the size of the Civ Complete buttons, but I´m not yet satisfied with the result. I temporary attache another screene with the reduced buttons.

I have to bump this thread, as my question wasn´t answered until today.

Has anybody achieved to replace the clumsy CivComplete title buttons with working normal Civ 3 title buttons (that in my eyes look much better)?

This is a request for such buttons. :)
