You're probably right, they used the term "land" rather than city or settlement so I just assumed they meant the Civilization.I figured that the new city was Puddington rather than the new civilization.

You can.Wow that is some nails on chalkboard level of painful cringe
Can you even rename things in game yet?
This is what the thread is about, so talking about it sort of is what one is expected to do.Are you guys done whining yet? Someone (probably not even Firaxis!) made a meh ad. Big whoop.

I don't like the ad, but clearly there's a bigger risk of pneumonia if one is 90 years old (metaphor for what an ad can cause considering the comorbidity). I doubt that there weren't any equally bad ads for previous Civ games.
Ideally, a discussion (with some humor) could take place about the ad itself.
You can.
The part which confuses me is how the player’s username is referred to as the leader of whatever army this is. In Civ VII, we’ve changed this perspective and now play as a leader from the roster we have been given.
Also, the “one more turn” chant — until the last update, this hasn’t been a feature.
I would guess that this advertisement was made/developed by an agency that lacked complete information (or a mastery) of the game’s features or mechanics.
Yes that’s what I’m saying.I mean, "One More Turn" in civ is not just about the one more turn feature at the end of the game, it's the unofficial motto about being up late and going "maybe I'll just do one more turn before bed". The rest yeah isn't entirely game accurate either, but it's also a dumb ad about a video game. Odds are the marketing team who put it together just got a few high level pieces of direction, and did whatever with it to put it together.
Too controversial to be 'an art'.What an embarrassment
Why do you even care that she's a black woman?Too controversial to be 'an art'.
well no matter that there are three black women being Player Characters in this game (Hatshepsut, Harriet Tubman and Saruniya Amina), woman shown riding a horse look nothing similiar to any of these.
Why don't choose anyone who looks alot more like Amina to leads 'The Horde'? since she always introduce herself as an aggressive leader of robber band 'who thakes everything from anyone'.

The difference is that the people on YT don‘t need to own the game to comment. Hence, the two samples might not be very congruent.Yikes, all the comments on that Youtube video are complaining about wokeness/DEI, with a lot of likes.
And people still say the hate for the game has nothing to do with those. Just not what's explicitly written in reviews, I suppose.
Nobody needs to own the game to complain. The difference is that the people on YT don‘t need to own the game to comment. Hence, the two samples might not be very congruent.
On Steam the do. At least during the time of writing the review.Nobody needs to own the game to complain.
Yes, but a lot of talk recently has been about sales and how that might be lower than previous Civs judging by player counts. The difference is that the people on YT don‘t need to own the game to comment. Hence, the two samples might not be very congruent.
Only tangentially relevant, but there seems to have been an increasingly prevalent correlation between the phrase "one more turn" and the game mechanic in which you keep playing after a victory. "One more turn" is a phrase generally used to describe the feeling urging you to keep playing, and the button to continue playing after a victory has been labeled "just one more turn" or something akin to that in reference to the phrase. The "one more turn" chant is obviously in reference to the phrase, not the mechanic the phrase has become associated with, in this video. Also, the “one more turn” chant — until the last update, this hasn’t been a feature.
Do we really have to keep rebutting the same absurd arguments over and over again? They invest on funny yet useless commercials but had no interest to hire a UI developer.
In the future, maybe they should stop making games and have only commercials. It is money well spent.
