Pigeon Post :)

Dear MIA,

It has been a long time since we have heard from your people. As such, my people have decided to send you a message with news of our current state and some questions we hope you can answer.

To begin with, bands of settlers have been organized and have founded 3 new cities to be added to our growing empire. The cities of Carpetbomb and Fort Carponperdixes have been rebuilt and are working at making those settlements productive. We have also founded another city at the edge of the Sacred Jungle, just before we ended D'Nut War. This city also has incense in its borders, which will greatly help us and hurt D'Nuts. :) Also, we are going to be entering anarchy soon, which will allow us to switch to a Republican government. This will obviously slow down our research rate in regards to discovering Engineering.

Now, we have a few questions we hope you could answer for us. We were wondering how your relations with the Galls are. Will you be entering war with them soon? Is there anything we could do to help if war breaks out? You should know that we will be ready to help you if diplomacy fails between you and the Galls. We will stand by our allies and work with you to fight the Galls if war breaks out. Also, we were curious as to the location of your warrior on our continent. Is there any news of D'Nuts you could relay to us? Has your warrior been near the silks in the western part of the Sacred Jungle? We plan to settle a city there, so any news of Nutter prescense in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Goodbye for now.

Wow - it's nice to have friends.

Imagine the beauty if even 4 Immortals left over from the war with the DNUTs suddenly showed up on KISS's back door.

*dreams happily....

No matter what - TNT may yet prove to be a valuable Ally.

Nice words ... as a joke I wonder if they would still be firmly behind their allies if we sent
We are in dire straights <stop> send military aid immediately <stop> Help your friends <stop>

Here is a draft

To greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

Thank you for your message, we are indeed relieved that your civilization is well on the way to recovering from the scars of war and that you are infact beginning to expand.

Regarding the switch to Republic and it's effect on researching Engineering, when will you be expecting to complete your studies?

To answer your questions, the relationship with KISS is glacial to the degree that climates are effected. We still hold out for peace, but feel that the tendrils of war will entangle us soon.

As to your offer of assistance, maybe there is something ... it depends on how you feel about landing Immortals behind KISS' gaze while they are distracted and focussed on us.

Our Warrior is near the Nutter borders, we see activity all around reminding us of ants in a nest, building and digging and founding new cities ... all the time protected by the various fighter castes. We recently saw the Mounted Warrior resplendent in plumage running down the savage barbarian tribes. We plan to bring our wanderer up to your lands soon, where we will of course respect your boundaries. We have seen silk in our wanderings, they were deep in the jungle surrounding a high snow capped peak jutting up at the sky. However this was some time ago but at that stage empty of any presence, we can only confirm that as we speak, this area is city free.

Welcome to the Benefits of a Peaceful Neighbourhood.

I thought to test the waters ... Call their bluff ... Pop the ballon of wordy breath ... Let's see how far their assistance will go. :mischief:

A minor point: We plan to bring him upto your lands soon, where we will of course respect your boundaries.

It is unclear who HIM refers to. It reads as if we plan on towing a Mounted Warrior northwards, but this is certainly not what we intend.

I suggest a rewording: Our warrior has orders to probe the northern edges of the sacred jungle.

EDIT ... Didn't see your suggestion until I had edited, I think word probe is too intrusive ... they may twitch or get excited ... neither is the reaction we want ;)

Looks good Fe!
It can't hurt to ask for help against KISS… after all, they brought it up.

However, I think your letter as it currently stands is a bit casual… having a second front against KISS would be wonderful – so I think it's worth applying a bit more grease to see if we can get them to do it.

I suggest changing this…

To this…
To answer your questions, KISS has rejected several very generous offers of peace, and now they seem hell-bent on starting a big dust-up over here. War hasn't erupted yet, but it almost certainly will very soon.

We are, of course, thrilled to hear your offer of assistance. We believe that in their blind rage, KISS hasn't even considered the possibility that you might hit them from behind. We thus believe them to be almost totally unguarded in the cities just across the way from you.
How involved you'd like to be in this war is, of course, up to you. But our military strategists believe that even 4 Immortals could cause a surprising amount of damage to KISS's rear flanks.
We're eager to hear what you have in mind. Any assistance will certainly be remembered forever in song and in future help we may be able to give you.

What do you all think?

I think that's great, G_W. I'd also recommend more specific instructions. Our intelligence on KISS' territory is much more complete than TNT's.

So rather than say "cause damage in KISS's rear flanks", we could be much more pinpointed:

There are furs southeast of their closest town to you. We have reason to believe that town is completely undefended. But there is a more delicious prize two towns away: Their Capital! It has a hill next to it, that units could unload onto. Take their capital! Send two ship, stacked one ontop of the other. Build these ships with all speed possible, and send as many Immortals as you can and SACK THEIR CAPITAL!!

Too grand? TNT is in anarchy now, so I dont' know how soon they could get a galley going. But I think it's unrealistic to think that three immortals is enough to do more than just get slaughtered right after landing.

Wow, you guys are greedy - my initial reaction was that Fe3333au's letter was asking a little too much. After all, we didn't exactly give them lots of military support in their war, and we are currently happily trading luxuries with their mortal enemy (which TNT could figure out any minute now).

Regardless, sacking KISS' capital is too greedy - KISS would see the galleys coming and could easily prepare a defense. It definitely wouldn't be a bad thing to force KISS to keep units from the front, but I think sacking the furs town with a sneak attack is a much more realistic goal and would hurt KISS significantly.

However, I would keep our initial response more vague and see if they are actually willing to commit troops and declare war before we pick out targets for them.

We are, of course, thrilled to hear your offer of assistance. We believe that in their blind rage, KISS hasn't even considered the possibility that you might hit them from behind. We thus believe them to be almost totally unguarded in the cities just across the way from you. In fact, the town closest to your shores has furs just to the south. A galley with 3 immortals should be more than adequate. Sacking that town would remind KISS that war is not the answer.

That's a little toned down, as well as specific.

Not sent ... obviously

So I will delete the assistance to war ... cos we may not be it one ... I'll await developments (hopefully positive) tomorrow

and I'm a bit pissed after pub meeting atm :p

Here is a draft of the propsed letter, whiich I'd like to send very soon.

Have changed somethings, especially the call for arms.

The relationship with KISS is glacial to the degree that climates are effected. We still hold out for peace, but feel that the tendrils of war will entangle us soon ... I guess that old Father Chronos will answer all in due course ... we have crossed every limb and bendable extremity, even if it meant snapping the odd bone to achieve ;)

As to your offer of assistance, maybe there is something :mischief: ... it depends on how things develop diplomatically, we will contact you in due course.

Dear MIA,

First, I will answer your question of our research rate concerning Engineering. Honestly, we are unsure of how long until we discover Engineering, due to our continued Anarchy. We will give you an answer after we switch to a Republican government. Right now it is impossible to calculate how many years will pass before our wise men discover how to build bridges, clear forests properly, and construct more advanced catapults.

Also, it is my pleasure to officialy ask you to a sign a "Gentlemens Agreement" with us. This agreement would give your roaming warrior on our continent full access to our lands. Since we can't sign an official Right of Passage in-game, we are offering you this unofficial treaty instead. This deal would be a gesture of friendship on our behalf, we ask of nothing in return. If you decide to agree to this arangement, we will gladly invite you to our Government Re-Establishment Party, to be held in Dancing Banana a few decades from now. It truly wouldn't be a celebration unless a band of Greek warriors showed up brandishing axes.

[party]

Bye for now.

greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

any reason not to accept? unless they would like to do the same on our continent, and it would be hard to say no.

We could allow the TNT's curragh ... Western Expedition to sail within our borders just to give them something for their offer of unlimited access.

First thing I noticed when I read this letter is that it seems they're not using CivAssist. If they were, they should be able to calculate estimated beakers per turn in Republic.

I see no reason why we shouldn't agree to this. They've been very cooperative with us - perhaps they're a little afraid of a new KISSMIA?

How about something like this ...

Greeting greekguy and all citizens of TNT.

Thankyou for your proposal, a delight to read a diplomatic message that was offering something for nothing.

We of course accept and look forward to visiting your lands :goodjob:

Although you asked for nothing, we in turn offer you the freedom of coastal sea travel for your Curragh Western Expedition. You have nothing to fear from us when sailing in our borders, ware the KISS though, we have sighted their sails near our waters.

Regarding the KISS, a shakey peace still exists between our nations.

As soon as you can inform us of the completion of Engineering please let us know.

Fare Thee Well in Peace.

I have no objections.

Although I must point out that in order to enter and explore their land, we would have to abandon our post of sentry. Is there a chance that once we leave Dnuts will be tempted to hold a surprise attack to finally eliminate TNT?
