I think they should have a seperate "Islands Cup." That way the Faroes, Malta, and the Maldives can also beat up on American Somoa.

The successes of Portugal have been a surprise. But what about Germany? They seem to be playing rather well right now.

(Surprisingly, it looks as if the U.S. will qualify. I could have sworn that Ralph Samson, the idiot who coached the '98 team, had set back U.S. soccer at least a decade! If they do qualify -- well, let's just say that they'll probably once again embarass themselves.)

No, I don't think Australia has any hope whatsoever of making the World Cup. The victories by obscene margins were against Pacific Islands who cannot play.
During the qualifying for France 98, Australia gave up a 2-0 lead to Iran to draw 2-2 and therefore lose on away goals, just because play was held up by some fool who deserves to be gassed jumping onto the field and cutting the goal net up, therefore supposedly"disrupting the winning feeling"
You should have heard the bleating shocked commentators. They almost committed hara-kiri in the commentary box.
That said, soccer is not a big sport in Australia, being mainly the sport of ethnic minorities from Europe etc.

Nah, I don't think the USA has anything to do with the finals. I that the Northamerican qualifying is faar to, how do you say it..., bad. On the whomens side on the other hand USA could have a pretty good chanse to get gold.
