Sry Tom but 3 stacks is waaaaaay too many for a destroyer.
 
From the wiki Wickes class page Ares listed, I clicked on the preceding class all the way back to the 1st US Bainbridge class destroyer (1899) and all in-between had 4 boilers (1 looked like it had 3).

I don't know what specific destroyer that model from Civ 4 resembles. I found an early German destroyer (forgot the name already) that partially resembled it with 3 stacks.

Takao CA was finished Yesterday, but won't post it until I can figure out how to properly eliminate Flicster streaking/Civ3FlcEdit duplicating bugs.

Deleted Tegetthoff Class BB and Mikasa BB because they suffer from graphical glitches still even after I thought I fixed them. They will be reuploaded when fixed.
 
You guys have to remember that tom doesn't make these models. These are Civ 4 models made by Civ 4 people for Civ 4. Any gripes you have about the models should be taken to the original creator.

Geez Gold, don't get your panties in a wad. I can read, I know where the models came from. I was just expressing an opinion. Tom's a big boy and can take care of himself. It just so happens that I think that OUR graphics artists are much better than those at Civ 4, Civ 5, Firaxis, or most anyone else that's worked on Civ, and I'll be the first one to jump up and defend them if I think they need defending. But I am also not going to coddle them. I will tell them the truth about what I really think, in what I hope is interpreted as CONSTRUCTIVE critiquing. Even tho' I know some are particularly sensitive and I try to avoid hurting their feelings. ;)

As for this unit, I can't even imagine that anyone could even think this was one of Tom's creations.

Don't get frustrated Tom. I love your work and your doin' a great job. Take your time. I can wait.

BTW- for those who don't know, most of the models provided to Tom via 3dwarehouse and other online sights, don't come with animations. So the animations and pics are Tom's. I hope everyone appreciates that.

Using this reference ( your reference I believe ) http://www.navypedia.org/ships/italy/it_dd_audace.htm , I think you will see that Most early Italian torpedo cruisers and destroyers up until 1920 - 1930 had two stacks. around 1935 they started going to a single stack on most destroyers. The Italians did have 3 or 4 destroyers that had 3 and 4 stacks, however these were captured French destroyers. By 1940, I believe all new Italian destroyers had single stacks. I could be wrong :mischief: and if I am, I sincerely and humbly ap-ap-apologize.
 
I could make an alternative by removing one of the smoke stacks, leaving only 2. Maybe the front one could go. And alter the colors a bit to make it look slightly different. Would probably take 20-30 minutes at most to do from start to finish (Once I get done with Kagerō).

The Italians always seemed to have underpowered engines anyways for a long time on pretty much everything. They crafted their machinery more than mass produced power AFAIK (I'm not a historical guru but I think this generalization is fairly accurate). Probably why they were a few stacks short. :)

Now we're on the same page. :lol: Frankly Tom, I think the model looks like an over-powered toy tugboat. I don't think it's worth the time or effort trying to fix. I'm sure you can find a better model later. Let this one go and move on to something worth doing. That's just my humble opinion.
