I'm 55 and I know I'm not the oldest CIV player around.

17. got civ2 for the Playstation in 1998, then as soon as i got a PC i bought it for that aswell.. Later i bought CTP (hated it). Bought civ3 the day it came out over here in the UK, bought PTW the day it came out aswell. The best game i have ever played by far.

I'm 17 years old, I first played Civ2 on the Playstation, as I heard it was a brilliant PC game, and I got hooked on it. Since then, I have got Civ2, CTP, CTP2, Civ3 and its expansion, and I'm looking towards the next expansion. It should be good... :)

I'm 31 years old....Actually I'm both 31 and 7 3/4 years old at the same time, looking forward to turning 8 next year.

I played a PBEM session last night and my wife thought it was "cute" that I was playing with my little friends, she is not a civ fanatic at all. :(

Cute? CUTE??? Might want to re-asses your marriage there. . . Man. . . my wife talked to me like that, POW! TO THE MOON!

What, honey? Take out the trash? Yes, dear, be right there. . . .

Um. . .I gotta go in now. . . .

Seriously, my wife isn't that bad, but she did roll her eyes at me yesterday when I bought a new game. Well, games. It was a fourpack. . . Of course, she has her 'loopies'. . . I won't go there. :D

MY wife has long since gotten over my games habit. She's realized that it just isn't going to change.

Hahahahaha
She is actually a very understanding woman.

Civ is just a really complicated version of chess, and how many old ppl play that?

long live civ

and I'm 23

6003...Oops! Once again I've confused my Civ life with real life. It's pretty easy considering they look so alike. I can barely tell them apart! I'm 14 and relatively new to the Civ 3 series.

It took us a while, but we came to an understanding: I get the 'puter, she gets the TV. So I don't bug her with what she watches, she doesn't bug me with what I do on it.

Look like familiar to me;)

The great thing (ahem, one of them) about Civ III is that is so flexible. You can play it so many ways, and with so many styles and strategies, that it never really gets old. It is unlike most games, which offer cheap thrills, heavy adrenaline, and 1000 clicks/minute (things which older people do not usually enjoy). I can't picture myself ever growing too old to enjoy launching a space ship, or finishing the Great Library, or conquering that last German city with 17 defenders in it...
You can play it for 10 hours straight, or for 15 minutes, or anything in between. This mass appeal and flexibility mean most addicts will probably never get "too old" for it. It is a thinking game which only appreciates with time.

I had a sudden (very bad) vision of one of those kind of old shows where the wife is on the tv and the husband out to golf or whatever...:blah:

It's a case of swings and roundabouts. We have the same thing happening as well.

That means you have a Feb 29 birthday, right?

I'm 14 btw and been on civ for 3 years. It's a bad addiction!

Yep. I only celebrate a birthday every olympic year and it's always a big one.

I'm 41, and have been playing the Civ for a couple of years now. I also play quite a bit on my PS2, which I love. My girlfriend's cool with it, although she can't resist teasing me a bit.

There's just no reason why one's age should dictate one's activities. I play my games, go to rock shows, play a bit of tennis. I don't do these things because or despite of my age; I do them because they're things that I love to do.

Soon to be 45 and have played every version of Civ that has been put out. Have a son, 15, who an even bigger fanatic than I am.
