My Nintendo practically raised me in the 80s and 90s, then SuperNES, N64, and now its computer games.

I'll never forget the feeling I got when I walked into the gameroom at the ripe age of 13, and saw this thing called 'Space Invaders'... WOW, it's like PONG only you BLOW STUFF UP!!!!! <drool>

Heh heh I'm 12... I think I'm the only one ... and also the only one raised on Civ II and Age of Empires.. and runescape and Final Fantasy and Netstorm before that

I am 33, and female. I am completely new to the Civ game. About 6 months ago I asked my hubby, who was going to Best Buy, to get me a new game. I am a fan of AOE, AOE2, AOM, Empire Earth, etc, so he thought I would like CivIII. I must admit I hated it at first because turn based play was new to me so I played it for a week or two and just couldnt get anywhere. But then my brother in law (who is a huge Civ fan) picked CivIII up for himself so it rekindled my desire to learn the game. I still consider myself learning ( i still only play cheiftan), but I have won games by Domination, Space Race, Victory Points, and Cultural. The conquest win is still and elusive victory, but as time goes on I am learning more about the aspects of the game by playing and reading the forums here.

Hey buddies just read what says grimmsie : try it just for fun, hate it, come back to it, try it for good and be a champion...Looks like the path of Love isn'it? OK it takes time but that's the way and that's the real root of the fun : you won't exhaust all the possibilities in jiffy ! Keep on playin'

Great to meet ya and welcome to the forums :wavey: . I think you will find
your hubby made a great choice but VERY addictive :mischief: . I'm 39 by the way ;) . You will probably have more fun on Regent, everything is 'even'
between you and the AIs ;) and a little more challenging  . Conquest
victories are usually tough to get without razing cities, which I don't really
like to do, I like to keep what I fought for :D . I mostly play on Emperor as
Celts, Iroquois or Vikings, which is C3C.

I have become addicted. I suffer from the 1 more turn syndrome. About a week ago I bought Conquests. I just cant seem to stop. LOL.

Im 29 and im happy to see that im not alone ( not alone at all- a 2 year old already). Altough i cheer all those kids who, as i did, started early on the Civ saga, i cant ignore the fact that the 2 main age groups playing Civ are the 21-30 and 31-40. This gives a strong indication that, more than in the present, good strategy games will, in the future, be considered a normal hobbie even for those over 40... :)

you'll notice that all those groups are in denominations of 10, except the 11-20 group which is split in 2.

Also, there have been 3000 votes.

I love all versions of Civ, and I hope I never go senile in my old age to enjoy the game in my retirement years

Don't worry thiis CAN'T happen. Well I hope so for ya. I expect not to be right now either senile or Alzheimer (who knows ? eh), I'm going to be soon 68 and my very deep interest and concern until now for all Civ games never failed. Civ is the greatest of all those games (?) emerging from the fireworks which began to burst fifteen years ago. I don't like to be idolatric to any of those but no matter what one can say, until today Sid is the very best.
This being said , sometimes I like to go to RTS like Rise of Nations but the fun is VERY different. :crazyeye:
Ooops I forgot to say that I'm already retired and that C3C is really the real thing.

I am 17 and don't think you are ever too old to play! When i'm a pensioner, civilization should have improved immeasurably and i look forward to playing it for the rest of my days.

I was in 0-10 and 11-15 category while I played civ1. 11-15 and 16-20 cat Civ2. 16-20 and 21-30 while played Civ 3
:D

I started playing Civ 2 at around the age of 12 after seeing a mate play Civ 1 at his house.

Civ 3 I bought a few months after it was released - I think for me the most special thing about Civ is the fact that unlike most other games which steadily move down the game shelf Civ 3 has always retained a spot near the computer. I turned 18 in March - just last week I started the Nepoloeonic Conquest and am still loving the game as much as I did years ago.

Highest game victory was Emporer in Civ 2 - this has never been something I've managed to equal in Civ 3. Still I think there are a number of playing years in me yet!

I'm 17. I'm nbot sure how long I've been playing civ, but the first one I played was Civ2. It was brand new at the time, and one of my friends from school had it and I thought it sounded interesting. This must have been at least 6 or 7 years ago, so I must have started at age 10/11. After Civ2 I went to Civ1, then civ2 on the playstation, then SMAC, then back to civ2. (I had no money at that time so I had to rely on what my parents bought - my dad didn't like SMAC for some reason, so he didn't bother to buy civ3) Then once I got myself a saturday job I bought civ3, PTW and C3C. Hours and days and weeks and months of fun thanks to Sid. I plan to get all future incarnations of Civilisation and to continue playing forever (provided I don't die/become paralysed/develop a drug addiction that causes me to have to sell all my possessions and indulge in petty thievery to fund.)
