I recently did some upgrades to my PC, and the long and short of it is that after my backup and reinstall process was complete, somehow a huge number of my songs in iTunes got duplicated. I have about 4500 songs with duplicate copies showing in my iTunes music folder.
iTunes can list all the duplicate tracks for me, but there is no easy way to delete them short of individually highlighting them (and I am not really excited about having to highlight over 2000 tracks).
Are there any free software tools for the PC that can automate this? I found some applescripts that only work with OS X version of iTunes. And, I found a program that costs $35. Doesn't seem worth it for a task that will only take a few minutes.
