Top 10 stupidities in CIV 3

3. You missed the point. What i wanted to say is that the cavalry was always a "special" unit, not the bulk of the army. For one, i can hardly imagine that the English vs. the french mustered 1,000,000 horses (number of men the Anglo/Russian/Prussian alliance had for Waterloo (in general). In CIV3 the infantry of that era is non-existent. And yes, the rifle was the main weapon of the rifleman but the infantry rifles all had bayonettes in the Napoleonic era and after.
Cavalry was the bulk of the Mongol and Mameluke armies.

There weren't a million men at Waterloo. Napoleon had approximately 180,000, Wellington commanded about 100,000 British and Dutch troops, and Blucher had 116,000 Prussians, giving a total, in round numbers, of 396,000, which is well short of 1,000,000.

BTW, bayonet is spelled "bayonet."

4.&5. Since banks in CIV3 only increase commerce (not banking abilities etc.), this form of banking can be found already in ancient Greece, Phoenicia, Babylon and other cultures. Actually, the banking as we today know it started in 19th century (Rostchild, Bank of France) and these isolated examples like the Bank in Barcelona were common just as in the ancient era = reseved for the rich and the nobility.
"Banks in CIV 3 only increase commerce." Banks in the real world only increase commerce. It's obvious to me that you don't really understand the purpose or the history of banks.

6. As I explained before, this was told in irony.
Then you should have used the [irony][/irony] HTML tags. ;)

The tech tree doesn't bother me that much. You can rebuilt it in your image, if you wish. It will remain the mechanism used to expand your capabilities.

As far as the top 10 stupidities that hurt my intellect, I would say most of them have to do with gameplay:

PTW1.27

1 - Bad worker automation (let me count the ways...)
2 - Poor AI military tactics
3 - Generally poor AI strategy - govs, spys, military build, etc.
4 - Bad focus order on units - jumps around the map
5 - Diplo hits for events beyond your control - trade deals busted, overlapping MPP's, etc.
6 - Crude corruption model - why so bad in republic with local control?
7 - Diplo lack of symetry - tech trades between AI's, can't order units out, ...
8 - Lack of visibility of culture and reputation effects
9 - No summary of AI moves - you have to watch to see who moves where
10 - Not able to put AI's into teams

YNCS since i did not see your signature before, I'm afraid i started a discussion which can go on for ages.

IRONY
As you have to be always right, I agree. You are right in all things you stated. I am all wrong.
A im just a stupid kiddo that knows nothing about nothing.
Excuse me, I'm from the primitive culturally and technologically backwards Central Europe and we don't know history.

Another stupidity that I extorted today...

I had researched Music Theory in hopes for the wonder.

So I was 1 turn away from the wonder (woohoo) and decided to sell the now useless tech to the AI.

1 of them gave me 19 gpt for it, the other gave me 17 gpt for it. A worthless tech and they bought it for the wonder I got the next turn.

Meh, easy money for me :D

Yet another techno-wierdness...

Monotheism is a mandatory prerequisite for Indians (Hindus) to field war elephants.

I think it's fair to say the Hindus still haven't "developed" Monotheism ( and show no great interest in the thing. )

My biggest beef is AIs attacking you for NO reason. In my current game on
Monarch as Vikings, the Iroquois attacked me for no reason just I had made
my first Berserk  . I saw them coming for about 4 or 5 turns and was
VERY ready. They still had NO horses  for their Mounted Warriors and it
was already Middle Ages :crazyeye: . They came with alot of Med. Inf and
archers  - needless to say they were slaughtered, I've captured
4 of their cities and can get at least 1 more with peace. Now WHY?????
They just went from about 2 or 3 in the rankings to next to last, for nothing.
I was not in the lead or anything, maybe it was a resourse thing. All I can
figure is that the AI was trying to start my GA to get it over with  , I am really not sure. What do some of you think?

How about building the PENTEGON in the Ancient age- I was able to do this
as Celts on Monarch against 12 AIs  , REALLY wierd.

Some forms of Buddhism are monotheist rather than viewing Buddha as simply the bringer of enlightenment. That said, the Indians used War Elephants a lot earlier -- Alexander the Great defeated an army of Indian elephants along the Indus River during his conquests, but was so impressed by the Indians' fighting abilities (and was leading a mutinous force) that he let them remain independent.

3. Monarchy is researched before Feudalism.
Oh, come ooooon. Even if they used the term "king", it was still Despotism. We all know that? And Feudalism has kings too. Just as monarchy. Monarchy is hardcore middle-ages.

Monarchy and Despotism are BOTH the rule by a single person with most or all powers vested in that person. Monarchy, however, as exhibited by the Pharoahs, the Babylonian and Persian monarchs, Macedonia, etc., involves the passing of rule from (usually) father to son, or, at least, closest relative, virtually always male. By contrast, a Despotism has no fixed form of succession and is best demonstrated in the Roman Emperors and a number of rulers in Greek city-states who ousted the aristocracy (Solon, for example).

They probably had a stronger military, they just didn't use it properly. My guess is you appeared weak and/or you had the closest resource they wanted. You were lucky enough to be ready for them with your UU.

Check with your military advisor to see which neighbor is stronger. They are more likely to be hostile, make demands, and attack.

I don't think this is a problem at all.

Edison opened the first comercial electric power station in New York in 1882, but the Stockton & Darlington Railroad Company had been running regular service in England since 1825.

Steam powered industry is certainly possible without electricity. In the American Civil War (1861-1865) the Union's arms industry was powered by steam, not electricity.
